	Announcement: SPDG-3 is starting Got spare money?

ANNOUCEMENT:

You're all very welcome to participate in the Single Player Demo Game number 3. The first one was won gloriously. The second one on a huge map with 23 opponents was ended prematurely because of the long computer time it took to play the turn.

The Game is just starting.

You have to be kidding me? I mean it would take a little while; but what kind of turn times were you playing the game with? To give it up because of taking to too long; it seems too much was invested in that game for it to go down like that. It's a shame IMO.

It was becoming surprisingly difficult to play the game due to the load, and no longer possible to even hold turnchats because of the wait between turns, as I've read in the SPDG forum.
Still, they did very well with the Vikings in a Deity pangea game.

How does 3-5 hours for 3 turns sound, BF? And we hadn't even got to the point that other civs were connected and trading lux/tech around very much yet!

With so many of the current Term unable to commit this may be the best option - to restart and try to get some new people in whilst everything is easy to get into.

If anyone has ever wanted to do something for the DGs but has always felt it would be too complex or takes more skill than what you bring, this is the perfect time to join in and be a Minister/President, as it is as simple as possible - all there is to do is explore for a while.

Holy CoW!! 3-5 hours! I'm guessing this was on competent machines as well...

I guess I'm glad I never tried playing a game with those settings. I wonder if my 1.5 P4 would take as long...

Octavian from CFC is running for President in the DG.

I understand that the President will be given MOD power in the DG forum. Since the ISDG is a sub-forum of the DG forum, would Octavian, if elected, be given the MOD power and hence access to this forum too ? If so, our security would be compromised.

My earlier post is assuming that whoever having MOD power for the DG forum gets automatic mod power & hence view of the ISDG sub-forum. I am not sure if this is indeed correct, probably MWIA or UnOrthOdOx would know.

Do not discourage him from running for president in DG. In fact, we should support him. (thereby improving our relationship with CFC) But if elected, we should point out to him and the GODS that he shouldn't be given the MOD power. Somebody else, like the VP should get it.

Does anyone really think he would access this forum? Please speak up if you think that is a possibility.

I guess handing the Mod powers to the VP would be ok if people had objections, if and only if the VP was an Apolyton ISDG member.

Only ISDG members can have access to ISDG Forum.

Bigfree, no offense, this is really a Control Access matter, and not a discussion whether we trust/do not trust anybody. Whether it's Octavian, or panag or Ghengis Farb is not relevant, as long as he is not ISDG, he should not be given the access.

In the long run, I agreed with you, it's probably better just to move it into a main forum instead.

This discussion reminds me: is there any reference to the ISDG on any other Apolyton Forum or page? If not, it's not surprising that we're not attracting any new players here (except a few that probably got in because they got invited somehow).

I just think as a matter of Apolyton pride that the President of our SPDG shouldn't be a membe of CFC's ISDG team... forget logisitics, it's all about pride

I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Hell, I have access to GWT's forum.

Though we should at the very least warn him. It'd be like not telling someone about the PBEM load bug and having them find out one day otherwise...

We once again have a problem. The person running for VP does not have access to the ISDG forum.
