There is no option "Send them to war to keep the peace in conquered cities". Or is that the first option ..?

Tired of ads?

We don't need them to keep peace in conquered cities; we just starve the city to 1 pop.

We have plenty of time for this poll; We can re-poll with the specific options that BFM jagjef have requested if no one has any objections.

Any one else have any other options they would like to see included in the poll?

BF: the problem with this poll is that one of the two main options ("Send something" and "Don't send anything") is split by multiple choices. That being the case, the one that's split will never be chosen.

I would read that as a group, that there is support for using at least some of the warriors as scouts.

Note: I apologize if there was a discussion that I missed that makes this point moot.

I'm going to have to say "allow war planners to determine the best use for these warriors consistent with the plan and evolving circumstances".

I disagree in principle to determining minor war decisions like this. This is how you end up with a disjointed and incoherent war strategy. This decision should be made in the context of the big picture.

I agree with Randolph; once the war is underway, we don't need to second-guess the MoW department, or split plans and "offer guidance" to extremes. Warmaking by legislation very rarely proves successful.

I would prefer to leave those warriors at Trip's disposal, with the understanding that they would not be carelessly wasted.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Trip has already made us aware of exactly how the Warrior's would be used. There's no question about it.

Trip is more than welcome (if I had my way) to take them along in the war if he waits for them to be upgraded, if he deems that they would be needed.

The MoW can of course plan a war and the necceesary units for it. But, as a Consul, I feel I have the responsibility to ensure that Trip's plans are sound and at least jive with the the teams feelings on the matter at least somewhat. And yes, once the war is underway, the time for second guessing is over; that's why decisions like this must be made now.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I'll again bring up the example that I made earlier. Say we want to move to a particular tile in GCA territory in order to move our advance along. We throw a Warrior onto the tile we plan on moving into, but find that there's actually a large amount of GCA troops that we either want to aim for or avoid (depending on the situation). We can either A) move the stack forward as we had planned to do or B) change the plan and move the core strength of the army to another tile, instead of having to use a valuable offensive or defensive unit to do it which we could need for other purposes.

Think about it. One unit has to move to the planned tile first unless we reload after we see something. We can either use a valuable and expensive vet MI, NM or horse to do it (and may change our minds later about where to move the rest of the units, dooming that 1 unit by itself), or we can throw a cheap 10 shield regular Warrior to do it. We either change the plan and save another unit for the real fight, or the Warriors end up in the same tile as the rest of the army.

There are, of course situations which may warrant sending a unit out on its own with no chance of reinforcement, but we can't assume those situations will or won't happen, and we may need a unit to conduct that sort of mission. It would be better for a Warrior to do it than a Horse, because the majority of these missions will be done in enemy territory where a Horse can move a max of one tile into enemy territory, is more expensive and can't be used in rough terrain.

A horse can move two tiles, in any territory, unless it's moving on a hill, mountain, jungle, or forest tile. It's my belief that we will be letting GCA troops have access to easy GL targets for their Elite units if we constantly set lone Regular Warrior's out for them. It's also possible that GCA will view the lone Warrior's as nothing more as bait. If we were to use the Warriors as scouts, I would only use them on those 1 move tiles that did not have a road on it (hills, ect..); that way they couldn't attack with a horsemen and retreat on the same turn. They would have to sacrafice that one unit in order to kill the Warrior.

I believe we have 4 Regular units that could be available for this duty (the 5th, WB, is heading to PoA). I would support using two of them as Trip suggests and the other two as upgrades if the above advice can be followed. Otherwise we are just setting them up to be killed by GCA much too easily.

Good, I'm glad we could work something out on this issue. Maybe we should hold another poll with yes or no being the options to this proposal?

How do the other Consuls feel?

NOTE TO OTHERS:
The consuls and others have discussed many things in chat in the past and will continue to do so, however, we will also bring many of the issues to this forum for those that don't make the chats. Some of these topics may seem trivial, but I feel that that is what is needed to be able to include as many members as possible in the decision making process.
