Discussion: Where to Clear and Mine? Enter the AD-FREE zone

The tiles marked with red M's denote that tile is to be ined; the blue C's denote clearing. After every tile is cleared, it is roaded. Some of the roaded tiles were never mined and they now have to be gone back to and taken care of. With our GA approaching, we need mined tiles.

I've numbered the tiles in order to give a sense of priority for the MoI. I want to discuss this order here. The order I propose is just that, a proposal. If you think certain tiles should be done before other, please make suggestions.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

When tiles are cleared; 2 or 3 worker's in a group are best. When mining, 3 in a group or a single worker is best. When roading 2 is the magic number.

Wouldn't it be more efficent to split the workers into groups for each region instead of having several workers move from M4 to M5 and back to M6?

By reducing travel times, more work gets done.

I told him the exact same thing, that it would be better if he split it into two different images or something, but nooooooo.

Base map for discussion Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

First off, I’m not listing these tiles in any real order, but I’m segregating them by different types:

Yellow - Jungle that has bonus Trade, i.e. the Riverside tiles and the Dyes
Magenta - Jungle that does NOT have any bonus Trade.
Light Gray - Grassland tiles that are not improved
Light Brown - Hills
I am not considering any Mountain work at this point in time, so the mountains aren’t listed. All of these tiles are in our territory that is currently ours or will be come ours with border expansions. For Quick annotation, I will name them by Y1 for yellow 1 or M11, etc.

At this point in time, we have several working Native Groups. They are:
Jungle 1: Monkee & CalcII
Jungle 2: Mark & Otto
Jungle 3: Squid & Horse
Jungle 4: Dan & Gits
Jungle 5: Yo & Worker being built in Big Bend
Gang of 3: MrWIA, EVC & Dejon
Yin & Yang
Rush
Spink
Panag

Remember, that to clear and road a jungle tile, with 2 workers, it takes 8 turns (1 to move, 6 to clear & 1 to road). Also, a Jungle crew can Irrigate a tile in 1 turn.

All times are from 370 BC, turn 110. The MoI is making the plans with the earliest possible time of the GA being on turn 118 (8 turns from now)!

Jungle 1: clear Y1, then Y4 - 15 turns total, as they are already on Y1. Finishing Y1 on turn 117 and Y4 on turn 125.
Jungle 2: clear Y3, then M5 or M7 (most likely) or M10. This group might also Irrigate G1, but that is still being looked at.
Jungle 3: move to B5 and mine, then to M3 and clear. Afterwards, to M1 and then M2?? Maybe do B6, depending on other things.
Jungle 4: currently clearing Y2, move to M14 next (to give a better road from Tripoli to the front) then to Y9.
Jungle 5: will be complete in 2 turns with the worker from Big Bend. Clearing M12, then to M13 and Y12
Yin & Yang: Mining B2, then to Mine B3 and B4. Afterwards, this group will move to Equilibrium to help the Slave finish roads to the Silks and one of those 3 will them make a colony. The others will then clear around Equilibrium. Anticipated time of Silk connection - turn 128 (1/2 of the way through the GA).
Gang of 3: Mine and road B1, then mine all of the Gray tiles and any other tiles (Y1, Y3, Y4) that are cleared before they have no more tiles to mine.
Spink & Rush will work on the northern Hills (B7 to 10), panag will likely join them, but he might have to join either Poly or Banana after a settler is built, for the Fort City.
Slave will finish the road connecting Equilibrium, then start roading towards the silks. The silks are very important, as we will start having major War weariness issues about ½ of the way through the GA, if the war is drawn out.

That is my plan at this point in time, some of it’s variable and some not.
The main thing with Yin & Yang, is that we can get fairly good production out of Alcohol & Possum, while maintaining a pop of 2 (working the hills), while we wait for the jungle crews to get to their tiles and clear them. With the GA fast approching, the empasisi is on our core, and tilea that will produce the maximum amount of sheilds, for the effort.

Yes, that would be the plan. You have to start somewhere. Getting it decided which tiles should come first in some kind of order will at least allow you to study which tiles should be worked by what groups so a plan can be formulated.

The map I posted does not meant than M5 is to be followed by M6; only that it roughly follows it in priority. Lets say that it would be "movementwise" to do M7 after M5 then go back to M6. That's fine, that's what we need a plan for.

We need BFC 7 7 and Hisp 8 7 mined, pronto. Cities can be at optimal pop with expanded borders in 14 and 13 turns respectively.

The 3 workers in that area already need to get this done.

Why BFC 7-7? BFC 7-8 would be much better.

I did not mention 7 8 because it is on your map already. We need that one and 7 7 to get BFC to 10spt.
