Help restoring my Mozilla user profile Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

I'm a happy and proud Mozilla user, but one thing got me.


I had to format my system partition to get a clean windows XP install.

So I saved the files related to my profile which were kept in

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profile_name

And I transferred them to my new computer.

But now Mozilla won't recognize it, and offers me to create a new profile. How can I make Mozilla read my old profile again?

I've tried creating a new profile by the same name, and changing all the files. It didn't work.

Is your current Moz a new install? If so, it may be a version problem.

Moz may be keeping track of profiles through a file with a list of profile names. Look for a file with the different profile names in it.

What happened when you tried to replace the newly created files with your backup copy? Did you try to replace the files individually or replaced the whole directory?

run mozilla, then close it.. copy all info in your old user profile to the new one (maybe delete its content first)... i just did this last night and it works fine

The new profile gets another name, you did copy the contents, not the profile itself?

I tested this with firebird/thunderbird, so that may explain why it worked for me and not you. *shrugs*

Is there a "*.slt" directory underneath the profile directory? If so, try copy the contents of that.
