It's not gay to have a chain. It's gay to have a chain and be so concerned about it being tarnished that you devote a whole thread to it. With the suggestions you've been given up to now, it should be clean enough. Since you are still concerned, either purchase an ultrasonic cleaning tank, or take it to a jeweler. Jewelers have ultrasonic cleaning tanks which will make it as clean as brand new, if such things are important to you...

However, I agree with Ted - Toothpaste will work. All you need to do is smear some toothpaste on the piece of jewelery and using an old toothbrush - brush the piss out of it. After your done brushing, rinse it off under warm water - and viola.
