The way this thread is going, every word has to be weighed carefully, before posted, which is okay.....to a point.
We don't want to get rid of spontaneity, do we? I mean, if poster X says something, you should still be able to adress his post in a witty way. Even though your one-liner may technically be off-topic.
The way I see it, there are two considerations to take:
1 - The particular thread in question. Too many one liners, and witty remarks do in fact turn a thread into a spam fest. These should therefore be allowed, but posters should be aware that they can become subject of moderation, should the threade degenerate.
2 - The poster in question. Obviously this is for the mods to decide. But I imagine that a poster with a spammer reputation would find it harder to post in a thread that is in danger of becoming a spam fest, than a poster that almost always post on topic posts.
I a fully aware that Apolyton is not a democracy, and that I have absolutely no say in these matters, whatsoever, but I felt that this thread had moved towards a discussion about "where the line is". Therefore the above words
