It's that time of year again... and the NFL kicks off tonight at 9pm edt. with the Jets vs the Redskins.

(so if you want to still join the Apolyton Pool...you are running out of time)

It should be a good match up. With the jets having to go with Vinny... OH BOY

And again, ABC will be having a musical kick off program an hour before the game starts... featuring Britney Spears... Mary Blige... Aerosmith... and Aretha Franklin doing the national anthem. Now what the hell is this all about. Last time I looked, the average Football fan isn't a Britney Spears fan.

I can understand trying to expand the audience, but this is just plain silly...

Ming--the spots I've seen on tonight's festivities are all seeming to point to wanting to grab some youngsters. With all the X games stuff going on these days, they must be a little worried--plus, baseball and basketball are sliding pretty big any more.
I'm going to plop #1 son down and point out his future position (scatback, I believe) to him.

I'm pumped for the season this year...though with two little 'uns and no cable, games are going to be few and far between.

The average football fan is, however, a huge fan of bodies like Britney's.

And it's not just the NFL whoring itself. It's a 2-way street. The same can be said of these musicians, who reach a huge network audience. It's the functional equivalent of a Grammy performance.

I can always root for local team Seattle, but they are frustrating as well.
