	Hahaha, take that RIAA! Tired of ads?

The world's largest prodcuer of CDs has annouced they will cut prices by up to 30% on all of it's CDs. The average suggested retail price will go from $18 to $13. Universal says it is trying to get itself out of a sales slump with has lasted several years and that they expect other makers to follow their price reductions. Universal continued to blame online file sharing with the sales decline (instead of crap products as many analysts believe) but said it was clear they could no longer justify the high prices.

That's whole sale and the retail will be around 13 though you can download from Apple's web site for around a dollar per song. Some of the web sites are deceptive though because the files expire or only let you have certain number of plays and then you have to buy it again.

Long live Kazaa! I'll pay pay up to $5 for a full CD but not a penny more. I guess that means I'll just have to wait for the price to fall some more.

Me too, but I'll be more wiling to shell out for cds now. Just no way I'm gonna pay $18 $19 for one. A DVD is almost as much, and I can buy used cds with the same quality for $6. So RIAA can suck my white ass.

I still don't like much new music that has been produced recently, so I doubt if I would be buying or downloading.

I tend to download songs until I have enough to start feeling guilty that I'm screwing the artist, then I might go and buy an album. If they lower the price, I'll use the same method, but I'll feel guilty quicker. So maybe down to 30 songs by any one artist

They're folks who have a need to justify their actions. Surely you don't expect people of the quality of our clientelle to be seen in places like Target stores? Honestly, they might as well drink Budweiser.

I haven't bought a cd for over $15 in years

Anyways, this is great news! I might just have to go on a little cd shopping spree soon

$10 would be nice.... at virgin megastore in the city (after all there is only one ) they have a whole bunch of cd's onsale for $10 all the time

I got the Clash's London Calling, Bob Marley's Legend and Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot for $10 each!

Ya, you're kinda right Asher. But they're quite good really. I play in a different style but I must acknowledge their superiority. At least technical superiority. I know that if ever I become successful enough a musician to put out albums I'll prob. share them on the 'net beside selling "goodwill" CD for a symbolic sum or something. But then I'm a commie.

BFD. Fat Wreck Chords CDs have been $13 for a while now. Projekt and Dancing Ferret are in the same neighborhood.

Basin Street is at $16/CD but jazz has a lower profit margin.
