Which notation style is easier for you?

Sir Ralph was helping me learn the official notation style but I still think I was deviating from it slightly. If you can help me along with that I'd appreciate it. In my other games we were listing starting and ending points along with piece designations when appropriate.

I can't get winboard installed on my xp machine here at home so it'll be tomorrow before I can play my first move, barring an unforseen victory over the evil empire.

Algebraic notation is really easy. Follow these rules:

Write the piece you are moving and the ending point.
Example: Nf3 (Knight moves to f3).

If the piece is a pawn, its designation can be dropped.
Example: e4 (Pawn moves to e4).

If there is an ambiguity (2 pieces of the same type can get to the ending point), add the file or row of the starting point before the ending point.
Example 1: Assume knights at g3 and c3. Nge2 moves the knight from the g file (g3) to e2. Nce2 moves the knight from the c file (c3) to e2.
Example 2: Assume knights at g1 and g3. To write Nge2 would be pointless. N1e2 moves the knight from the 1st row (g1) to e2. N3e2 moves the knight from the 3rd row (g3) to e2.

Captures are written by adding an x before the ending point.
Example 1: Nxd4 means knight captures at d4.
Example 2: Ngxe2 means knight from the g file captures at d4.
Example 3: exd5 means pawn from the e file captures at d5. Note, if capturing with a pawn, the starting file is always written (but the piece designation dropped), even if there's no ambiguity.

What winboard version are you using? I have 4.2.5 and 4.2.6 installed on XP boxes.

I'll be happy to help you out, and do post positions every few moves, also.

I believe it's 4.2.6. For some reason it hangs when I'm extracting files. I don't know that it will be a terribly big deal as I've played all my games so far at work during my free time.

Thanks for the tips, SR.

So if I have this correct:
