Got spare money?

and timex...

don't trust rappers for fashion... they just take whatever is popular in the cities and put it in the mainstream about two years too late... but no, we never put band-aids on our faces though Nelly (not 50 cent) started that...

Full PM-box? Change here!

I'm sorry, I'm confusing bullet proof vests with bandaids. 50 cent is a bullet magnet.

What is the deal with the damned bandaid, though? Not even the guys I know from NE DC can tell me.

Oh yes, Albert, I am so taking style tips from you.

The P.M. Dawn crew crossed with a football team with accessories from a fishing goods supply shop. Love those speckly trout fishing in America hats....

If I walked down Commercial Road looking remotely like that, I'd be laughed out of Australia.

Deservedly so.

thats because most white people got no sense of how to dress even halfway normal... ****gy hair, non-matching dirty clothes... i honestly believe a jersey wearing guy would be seen a bit higher in an office than an unkempt white boy. if the former just proves he's not a thug, he'll get respect... and it aint a far step to him wearing a suit and tie... the stereotypical joe cracker nerd that i'm talking about is unkempt, wears non-matching clothes, etc. and only puts out the idea that he dont take care of himself. does an office want him?

I never said that all white people dress well, especially college students. However, you're missing part of the picture. When I see a college student dressed like **** at 8 am, on his way to class, I know that he just woke up. Hell, I've been there. I'd rather get through my two or three classes for the day, get home by noon, take a nap, study, or whatever. I'm not worried about what I look like in class - hell, I pay to go there, not the other way around.

Now, when I go out, I'm certainly going to dress a lot nicer, and I don't know anyone who wouldn't do the same thing, no matter how they dress for class.

quote:
i honestly believe a jersey wearing guy would be seen a bit higher in an office than an unkempt white boy. if the former just proves he's not a thug, he'll get respect...

He won't get a chance to prove he isn't a thug, because any self-respecting employer will laugh the jersey-wearing guy right out of his office. Then he'll call in the dirty, unkempt white boy, and laugh him out of the office as well. Then he'll get to the guy - and it doesn't really matter what race he is - who is dressed nicely, wears a tie, etc., and guess who's first in line for the job?

quote:
the stereotypical joe cracker nerd that i'm talking about is unkempt, wears non-matching clothes, etc. and only puts out the idea that he dont take care of himself. does an office want him?

Probably just about as much as an office wants some stereotypical rapper-wannabe who doesn't use correct grammar and dresses like he just played basketball in the hood, right after knocking over a convenience store.

I'm not saying that dirty, unkempt white people are better than sloppily dressed black people. I'm saying that neither group will make a very good first impression, because no matter what everyone "back home" thinks, mainstream America disagrees with you.

You don't have a remote clue as to what you're talking about. Step outside of the projects and come see corporate america. You won't find anyone dressed as ludicrously as those folks on the bench.

That gear is fine for bumming around and maybe playing some sports, but it is sloppy-looking and unprofessional. They might let people dressed like that work in the mail room, so long as they could be certain they would never be seen by any clients!

I have to ask this...because these guys look like every rap guys in terms of their pose. Why are rap artists always looking so serious to the point of ludicrousness? Can't they just smile, or wear a sardonic smirk, or something? Because all they do is strike some silly pose with their hands out and race that looks like they've been sucking lemons.

Really, nobody believes they're as big and badass as they're pretending to be. They seem to be trying to compensate for something...

2pac smiled quite a bit in his pictures... but you're right. i cant think of any other rapper album cover or insides where they had anything but a serious pose. its especially noticable when they got a whole crew of 15-20 guys behind them and they're all standing there looking mad as ****.

From the perspective of someone on the outside looking in, AS, it looks terribly silly and phoney. They all look like posers who are desperate to assert a thuggish quality. They take themselves far too seriously for anyone else to take them so.

yeah well boris... rappers have been doing it since the 80's... kind of late to change now... even the anti-gangster rappers like KRS-One who seems like he's had a 20 year career in rap he's been around so long, poses all tough. his gospel rap album from two years ago, showed pictures of him all serious and mad.
