Save access thread Get a bigger avatar today!

Since the (national) flag and location info in the left pane of my posts does not match, you may safely assume that I am on a field assignment.

What does all this mean? An excellent question. Let me assure you that it is more than bandwidth banditry.

Being on a field assignment means that it is impossible to meet the long term committments needed for a high speed connection. Hence I communicate with you under the disadvantage of dial-up access.

And that's what brings me to the subject of this epistle, the Save access thread. Actually it's a wonderful thread, packed with lots of info in a presentation rich environment. How's that for a polite way to say it's a slow loader and a bandwidth bandit of the worst order.

When this thread is just starting a page, the wait isn't too bad. But the 'Poly default is 30 per page and the Modulo(turn#,30) for turn# 114 is 24. This is close to 30 and hence close to the longest waits for me and all others who persevere with plain old phone service.

Would it be possible to reconfigure the replys per page for this one thread to something smaller than 30? I would be ever so grateful and I suspect that others feel similarly.

So could a mod cast the appropriate spelz? Nutel and providers of plain old phone service from all over the world need a wee bit of relief.

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

If you are referring to having to wait for all the images to load, you don't need to. If you just want to look at the report itself, you can just stio the page loading images once it has loaded all the text. Then if you want to view the latest map just clicking on the link will load only that image, and in a larger screen too.
