	Lonestar Joins Western Civilization; Gets cell phone Remove this text

Well, I've finally joined the rest of the planet and gotten a cell phone. Kind of nifty, actually. A nice little Siemens from Cingular. 5000 night/weekend minutes, 500 anytime rollover minutes, no roaming for damn near anywhere of importance in the country. All for $39.99 a month (plus the $50 or so I paid for the phone)

I'm pleased.

I've never had a cell phone, but I'll most likely be getting one in the next couple weeks. You aren't a real resident of Japan until you have a keitai.

My condolences. Mine has been doing excellent service as a paperweight for the last two years. I can't imagine how I lived with it.

I have a cell phone but I'm not leashed by it (mostly because I'm already leashed by my computer ). I rarely leave my house with it. I'm almost always contactable when I'm home, though...

I still don't own one and don't feel that I need one. If I ever did get one, it'd be for emergencies (in the car and such), and I'd probably keep it off most of the time I was out of the house.

I have used my phone once in the last two years, and that was to call out the breakdown service when my scooter broke down.

Seen recently in York - someone cycling across one of the main bridges across the river using one hand to hold a phone to his ear whilst using the other hand to hold the cigarette he was smoking. Proof that cell phones induce suicidal tendencies.
