I mistrust statistics like these. They usually take in account only regular hours. But alone in Germany the overtime hours worked per year would make up almost one million new jobs.
37 hours per week is my "normal" minimum, but I'm expected to work up to 20 hours more per month without extra pay, when the necessity emerges, which happens, but not continuously. If I work yet more, I get paid for the hours exceeding this 20 hours limit. If somebody asks me about my regular work time, I'd answer 37/week, but the de facto average is somewhere around 40, with peaks up to 50 or even 60. I don't think this is not enough.
As for vacation, yea, 6 paid weeks per year is a bit more than the poor exploited people overseas get, but ... well ... as compensation you are a superpower, if this makes you feel better. *points and laughs* *shows solidarity*
