	RON crashes to desktop in multiplayer game Got spare money?

Hi all..

I'm quite ticked about this game; I bought the game, installed it, then ran the 1.02 patch on it as Gamespy really really insisted on it. Okay, fine. I try to join my friend's game in Gamespy, and I can connect, but as soon as she launches the game, I try to chat with her, and RON immediately disappears and I'm thrown back to the desktop. No message, no nothing. BTW, I cannot see her in the game either...she's the host but doesn't appear in the first slot.

Then I try to host a game. She doesn't crash when typing in the chat window, but I cannot see her in the game. She can see/hear my chats, but I cannot see her responses.

I am using a NAT, and have configured it according to Microsoft's KB article regarding what ports need to be configured for RON. On top of that, all unknown packets are sent to my machine.

This machine is a 2.4ghz P4 with 1gig of ram, no open applications, mucho hd space, and a nVidia 4600 video card. The motherboard is a gigabyte (don't remember the model), with onboard audio.

The only quirk in my setup is that I have two screens, a 21" tube, and a flatpanel. The primary screen is the 21" tube. I run both screens as 1280x1024 32bit color, and that is the setting I chose in RON as well in the single player game (which does play ok).

Any help would be appreciated.
