	Guarding the Northern Approaches Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

We are vulnerable to a GS sneak attack in the north with their 4-move galleys.

It is possible for GS to drop a stack as far as Paoting (which is 4 tiles from Imperial City) without us noticing by manouvering among sea tiles which are conveniently out of our range.

My suggestion is to move our Conscript Med Inf near Resolute to the little "island" N of the wines. From there any attempt by GS to move a ship around that tile will be seen and we'd have a 3 turn warning before an invasion. 3 turns would be enough us to assemble a sufficiently strong counterattack force.

We can either keep Resolute worker there to guard the coast or maybe move one Rider to make sure GS can't land in 1 turn.

From Paoting. That city could be a powerhouse. Almost worth making a harbor there and designate it the "Headquarters of the GOW" fleet. Though an arguement could be made to use dreadnaugtica for this purpose. we could have dreadnuagtica produce a worker and send him to join Paoting. Thus moving a city worker from some corrupt to almost no corrupt. Unfortunately this city needs some deforestation and irrigation to get to its potential. But it is Huge.

One of my fears is a GS Inchon Inchoff invasion.
But that pic above is just scary


We should be wary that GS may be looking for a trigger to start a Northern Invasion.
Perhaps confirming that the bulk of our forces are down south ?

In which case, they may assume that their recent loss could only of occurred with a huge force.

Using the same tactics on Vox, they will land on a hill, so South of YellowKnife is where I would expect it.
They are a naval team and would have at least 6-7 galleys, they could land 13 Pikes & 1 settler on a hill. Then use "fortify all".


I dont have any solutions... I am just taking a leaf from Uno's book and being paranoid.

That useless "Trip worker" would be better. (Wherever he is).

Our industrious workers are far more valuable working at this stage.

Perhaps it's time to release him from slavery and give him citizenship at Paoting. It would make a nice little news article on the main forum

Good point Unortho. also I amunder the impression for Lego that vox shares all with them and that GS has sent a letter asking to attck"little bob". As I mentioned a while ago when I first mentioned it, vox went straight to Lego with this letter. However, I have written beta and am somewhat disturbed at NO response. Could vox actually backstab us.

Beta has been a little distracted.

I am in contact with him in PTWDGII & Misfits PBEM.
I will send him a hurry up tonight.


In all of my chatting with Beta/Vox, all they talk about is eventually "reclaiming" back their homeland.
Lego has them on a tight leash.
Vox dislikes us for not supporting them against GS (They feel we should of sent more units and earlier), but they hate RP & GS more.

They may consider backstabbing us, but while we are killing RP & GS, and Lego are keeping them in-check, I doubt it.

I would personally LOVE to set Vox back into their birthplace.

I think that would be FAR more insulting to GS than a simple defeat.

Actually in my letter to Beta, I did mention that I would love to see them reclaim what was rightfully theirs. I do wonder though if GS made them sign a neverending NAP.

Beta sent me part of their agreement with GS a while back.

I dug it out....

He says point 14 was the GS clause that they had to remain "friends for life".
But Vox deleted it before agreeing.

The only sticky point is that Vox must sell their free techs to GS for the same price as they sell to everyone else.

He sent me this, because I asked him if they are in on the Trade Embargo. He said yes, and their agreement did not say they could not do it... only the free tech must be traded.

Re-establish Vox on Estonia!!! Give them the whole island for all I care. I love the very idea! We may have shown up late, but we would have kept our word about assisting them vs GS.

But for me it is more a point of embarrassing GS than honoring Vox.

Then...I tend to hold grudges like that, and I'm still not pleased about how they handled the city gifting deals. nye will be next on my list after I find MrWIA...

who says we need Vox to declare war on GS? It's not like they could really contribute a massive force. We simply run amok, give North Estonia to Vox, and split the rest between the invaders (GoW-ND and Lego)

For those who dont know .. this is a GoW #1 PBEM reference.

Panzer & GF are arguing over who had their a$$ kicked worse by my Mounted Warrior rush.

- Panzer spent the entire game building Spearmen and has turtled in his capital. aka the Roleplay manouver.
- GF spent the entire game building the Pyramids and is now doing a OCC
- I spent the whole game building Mounted Warriors and are pounding both of them into dirt.

which city is that? Anyways Port Isolation is doing 30-turn settlers, probably one for there and one for somewhere south of Yellowknife. That whole area will be pretty productive once the FP is built... if we last that long. A GL would speed up the process

Anyways... GoW PBEM #1:

I wasn't building spearmen, I was REXing. I over-rexed and basically had too much area to cover with not enough units. I have learned from this mistake and I think I will be a better MP civ player for it. Thanks to H_E!

You tried to do resource denial, and were defending your border cities with 1 spearman each.

I thought about sending a settler & trying to grab some iron (I had none), but when I saw your expansion, I thought it might be easier to just take your cities instead.
They all went population 2 just before I attacked.

They did give me a GREAT LEADER though

All of my losses means less support costs which means faster science rate.

I did that because I couldn't grow fast enough to build workers or settlers, the city that built the Pyramids was only size 3 when it finished them.
