My suggestion: clean up Roleplay.
How?
We should be thinking about sweeping up from the south, i.e. take Barcelona and then go for GS's port city and New Madrid. After those fall, we can threaten Toledo and finally assault Pamplona.
The reasoning:
We need to 1) destroy as many GS units as we can. 2) Force Roleplay to disperse their army so we can destroy it piecemeal. 3) Eliminate RP's presence on Bob. 4) Begin peace talks or simply kill off any continuous invasions by GS.
RP's morale will be shattered the more GS units we kill. Without GS for defense, they will have to defend their remaining cities themselves or simply hole up in Pamplona. The more we force them to disperse, the less troops we'll face in Pamplona. Once Pamplona is out of the picture, GS will find it almost impossible to establish a presense on Bob. |
I was writing an almost identicle response...lucky I checked before spending any more time on it.
Problem I see however.
I think as we advance on each RP city, it will be gifted to GS, and they will hid all of their units in it.
We wont find many GS units in the open again, unless we sit and wait for their next expansion attempt.
We are going to have to assault fortified pikes & knights in cities. And GS will probably put every unit they have into them.
The other option, is a direct assault on Pampalona first.
Here, we can get a investigation from Vox, and know exactly what we are facing before we attack.
I dont know which one I would prefer.

I too have considered direct assault on pamploma. But would rather wait until the city had been reduced to 6 by bombardment. They have by my estimate at least 20 units there, who currently with hill and 7+ citizens are at a 100% defesnive bonus+ the have catapults.
Occupying and razing Pamploma would give me great pleasure. However equal pleae would be given by forcing RP to gift all their cities to GS and Gs to have to pay for all those units. Especially when we shelled pamploma to a pop of one.
My current idea is this. We or nd(most likely) sends workers to road that mountain due south of pamploma. From there a force of catpults protected by muskets can shell at will. RP will be forced to take desperate measures to end this shelling and perhaps waste troops in a suicidal attack. Pamploma being reduced to 1 is hilarious additionaly we can shell the approach road through the forest from there and thus protect alamo.
While this is happening when we get to 20 riders in or near the Alamo, we launch an atack toward Barcelona. this city being a port is KEY. while we rush that way the Nd ansars, with only 2 defense, attack the forces that we bypass(always centering in on MI, the pikes can rot for all I care).
At the same time the Toledo force arrives(they will get in view of RP/GS next turn). GS must make a decision "where do they defend". 5 more riders are leaving this turn for the 2 turn trip to the location 1nw of Lowenmutt. This force can, on the 3rd turn from now, either attack the moutnain 2ne of Toledo, thus thratening the Central coastal cities or swing south to assist the barcelona force. 2 more riders will leave macao and will be in the alamo in 3 turns. With the 20 forces currently there(including panzer, who might or might not be with us still). These extra forces bring us to 32 riders in the south(including the 5 rider Toledo diversionary force).
ND still has about 11 ansars, near the alamo. They could basically destroy what forces we leave behind. also they have a 7pike force that will be upgraded soon. They were considering sending this force e to cover their ansars. But it could just as easily cover the workers to shell pamploma.
Note: Ok MZ I used paragraphs, though it does throw off the whole stream of conciousness thing. . Though actually I had to edit it, becasue it seems to eliminate my indentation.(that actually might have been the problem all along and I didn't notice it)
Note2: I didn't see GKs post before I posted. Would you prefer we hold off moving the Toledo Diversionary Force(TDF) until we have more troops in the south.

An Rop can be offered with peace. It lux/resourse that can't. The workers would take 2 turns to road. Here's an idea, have nd move the workers 1north. We take them and start roading this turn. They only have 3 knights in that stack, so 4 riders would be sufficient to portect them. this gives us a 1turn move from the Alamo to the barclona hills. Do the math, that force is 2 turns from barcelona now(except for knights).
About the RP stack. No matter what we will have 7 riders moving into "the Alamo" this turn and it also now has barracks. It can absrb any attack that can be thrown at it. At most that stack could have 4 offesnive units.
About the Gs stack. My instinct as always is to ATTACK. If we did that here is how it would work out IMHO. Note that GS did not FORTIFY ALL
1)8 catapults shoot, let's say they hit 1/2 the time.
Result 4 pikes are reduced to 3/4 and rest of units are 4/4.
2)Nd attacks with say 5(2 elite) units
a) for the 2 elite the odds are about 50/50 so 1ND dead,1GS dead.
b) the other ND units attack odds are 4/8.5 in each assault. Roughly even. lets say they win 1 and lose two.
After this round Gs has 4 3/4 pikes and 1 weak knight and 1 weakened pike+5 MI.
3) We attack with our 10 riders(but first we get the catpultsand atatck).
a)catapults fire, same as last. The 4 3/4 pikes take the attack and go to 2/4.
b) We attack, 1st 4 defensive units will be MI, in these 4 attacks we will probably win 3 and lose 1.
c)we now have 7 riders vs roughly 5, 2/4 pikes and 1 2/4 knights and 1 1/4 MI.
Now the 2/4 pikes take over for defense again against our next 5and the knight defends the sixth. We win 4 of these 6
d) We now have the following 1 full riders vs 2 1/4 pikes and 2 1/4 MI.
After that attack(assuming we win) the Gs force on the hill are at 1/4 pike and 2 1/4 MI. This force can't counterattack. but neither is it destroyed.
But, there really is no need to attack and here's why. That force on that hill is effectively out of the battle for the barcleona area. We can safetly leave it where it is if we attack barcelona. With ND's defesnive units near there, it ain't going anywhere. We can just save it for target practice later. Isolated and without reinforcements, it is doomed. Our steady resupply of riders will secure alamo as well. Also as GF said if they decided to move into the open we simply kill them there.
either way we win.

Actualy its 3 MI, not knights. The odds of an elite MI beating a 4/4 rider at Alamo is about 42%. The odds of the /44 Mi is 37%. A 3/3 musket has the same effective defense as the 4/4 riders.
To be honest I believe these moves show that we are horrible underestimated by RP and GS. Also the good news is that there are less units in pamploma, though still too many too attack.
Also note the new jungle road that we just completed. so now we have a straight shot down to this area.
Late edit: I also suggested to ND that they move those catapults onto the road and then we take them and put them at Alamo. We can then shell the force into oblivion.
