From Civ3.com
quote: More Techs: Map the world using Satellites to explore the entire map. |
Some of you have undoubtably noticed this before but C3C will include satellite operations. I was quite dissapointed this wasn't included in the original game.
If it's done the way (I think) I would like, there will be a small wonder, the "National Reconnaissance System" or something. This will unveil the entire map to the builder. You will also be able to see enemy unit positions. I would have a toggle feature where the player can elect to watch AI moves throughout the AI turn or not. Thus we don't have to watch AI units mindlessly roam about; but if you're at war watching the AI move will probably keep you better informed. I think submarines should remain invisible, or at most become visible only near the end of the tech tree.

from the chat:

the map |
Well that's disappointing, if not useless.

What about just using satalight like a unit? Your can reveal
so many spaces a per turn and you have to have the
Apollo program Aluminum and oil to build a satalight.
this way the little third world civs cant get the whole
map revealed.

I like the idea of needing multiple satellites to view more of the world... BUT you should be able to see troop locations also.

oops i spelled satellite wrong Pardon my spelling. Yeah one satellite cant see the whole world you should be able to see
current troop locations but not be able to see movement.
allthough that would probably be harder do put into the game.
