I have no idea what that tile is supposed to be.

Is that lava near the volcano? It looks like pollution.

Btw, wtf is the city building? A Stela?

Also check out the "luxuries" column, between Improvements and production/food/commerce. They have 2 wines, 2 dyes, and 5 WHAT ??? 5 invisible luxuries?

One more thing: I thought exotic birds are luxuries. Well, apparently they are not. They appear under "strategic resources". I wonder what are they good for?

I'm really astonished about your observation skills !

It is clear that is an Alpha version,I suppose it is a kind of terrain improvement related to irrigation....perhaps...or maybe a specific terrain resources.....perhaps....

Funny thing is also the " stealth luxury "

Hope Alpha versions will be tested a lot before releasing them.

Some Aztec or Inca units might require elaborate feathered headgear.

I figured it must be something like that.
Think about what the description would be like:

Aztec special unit: xxx
Requires: iron and exotic birds

Aha, so it's a column used as a monument. Thanks.
But what does it do? Generates culture or something more?
Nevermind, I'll find out soon.

The Exotic Birds resource was talked about in an article, a long time ago.

The feathers of the birds are used to make the arrows and whatnot.

Basically, without the EB, you won't be able to build certain units.

Tired of ads?

I read somewhere the birds are a strategic because the feathers are needed for arrows. At least in this conquest they are.

There are many such stela in northern Ethiopia, especially near Aksum and Lalibela. One of the most famous stelae was stolen by Italian forces in 1935/36 and is still displayed in Italy despite the objections of the Ethiopian government.

Maybe they're cultural lines of some sort, like the Nazca lines, which some UFO nuts claimed were built as landing strips for UFOs.

WHAT?! You mean that they were not?!

But getting back to the topic on hand - does anyone have a definative answer as to what those 3 lines (looks like furrows) are on the screen shot?

Inflate your Upload Space

How could that be a maize -- the furrows are straight? You'd never get lost in that!

(Must be a resource, since it isn't within a city radius.)

EDIT: Warpstorm, how could you do that!? I make a bad pun/joke, and then you eliminate the reference.

(bleepin' playtester!)

Judging from the reference in Jaybe's post it looks like Warpstrom originally said it was a Maize resource, but then edited it out.

Maize would make sense as a Mesoamerican scenario specific resource, indeed. It could be a replacement for wheat.

Yes,this is the most important question.

Scenarios are always under floodlights, but the epic game IMO is the thing that we have never to forget because it is the core feature of the game, otherwise Civ with scenarios only will look like to an arcade game, and Civ fans I believe hate to see " game over " and " insert coin ".
