Yes, it's time for another poll

We have Pottery, Ceremonial Burial, Bronze Working, Masonry, Alphabet, and Iron Working. The Izzards have Writing, which we can hopefully trade for.

CoD just sent me a PM, telling that they will have Writing in 8-9 turns and offering the trade. We will have Iron Working in 4-5. What are we going to do with the ~4 turn difference?

As for next reserch, I am all for Code of Laws. Our Granary city will soon produce settlers, and we could then set more distant cities to build Courthouses first.

If the difference is going to be 4+ turns, I say go for The Wheel first. It is much cheaper than Code of Laws, and knowing where the resources are is always good.

I would propose asking Sunshine what they would be willing to trade for writing. That way, we can kill two birds with one stone, without having to research writing (an expensive tech) on our own.

That sounds fair to me.

Of course, they get a good deal since they were researching at 10% the whole time. I wonder what they are doing with all the gold.

Depending on the research time for the wheel, I'd hate to waste 4 turns waiting on writing. OTOH, if it puts us 36 turns behind on the republic beeline, the 4 turns is no longer such a big issue, and my vote goes to code of laws.
