Q cubed, your are making a lot of good points why race-based affirmative action is wrong when race predominates over other considerations. As Etchelon noted in an earlier post, affirmative action in Germany exists, but is not based on race. I believe affirmative action is valid to overcome disadvantages that the individual has suffered. These are primarily due to poverty. But if the specific disadvantage of the individual is not considered, we could find a rich black dude gaining admission over an equal qualified, but poor Korean, simply due to race.

Race consideration should be permitted when all other factors are equal and the particular race is under-represented in the student population. I believe this is what the Supremes said was constitutionally permissible, and they are right, IMO.

Was it Bay Buchanan? She gave a similar speech at Nebraska and it was actually quite thought-provoking. Would've been even better if the feminists in the audience had asked real questions instead of just shouting at her.

50%+ 1. What group has 50% + 1 of the population? White males? No. White Females? No? Black Males? No. Black Females? No. Hispanic males/females? No. Asian Males/females? No. Other. male/ female? NO.

So by your logic, there is no majority.

Of course,"whites" do have 50%+1, so there is one group (and one group only) that can claim "majority" status in the US.
