turn 32 2470bc Increase Your PM Length

Most importantly this/next turn. Where does the stlr go. I moved him NW this turn bu we need to look at where to build in the new capital spot or block SS on the other side of the lake.

From the map if you look at the north jag warrior you'll see he is above SS borders from the direction of the borders he is directly 3 tiles north of the SS capital.

Arnelos from your extensive associations with RP/SS how do you think SS would react to us building a city so close to their capital, just on their side of the lake?

Also what the hell do we want to build now? With 5spt we may want to build another jag to go NE, then perhaps another settler?

The second city, without question, should be 3 tiles away from our capital. We need PRODUCTION far more than we need to claim land at this point.

What we need is a city close to our capital that minimizes corruption and waste while also being close enough that our worker(s) can economize on building improvements that help both cities and linking them by road.

For that matter, our entire city core should probably be 3-tile spacing. Once the intial core is done, however, we can more than afford to expand to 4-tile spacing and build cities for the purpose of claiming specific areas of land.

The point is that what land we claim isn't going to mean jack if we don't have a powerful and productive city core built from the start of the game... being powerful will matter more than having a few corrupt cities in the right locations... if they build where we want, we can always use our power to crush them

Now, as for WHICH tile that second city should go on, my personal preference was for SOUTH of our capital, but if you've already moved the settler NW, we can just build it in that direction (somewhat) and build the third city to the south.

Our first several cities should, ideally, be arrayed around our capital city each 3 tiles away from the capital and about 3 tiles away from one another (in a ring). This will optimize our ability to conduct early research and gain cash along with build units (and improvements). It will also keep our territory small enough that our non-industrious workers can improve it more efficiently without wasting so much time building long roads between far-away cities.

We're lucky that our starting area has so many flood plain tiles. We can build a few cities which can pump out cheap workers and improve the entire area fairly quickly, despite being non-industrious.

Ok, looking at the map... my recommendation would be to build the city 2 tiles north of the current settler location (on the hill). That puts it 3 tiles away from the capital, on a hill (for defense), and 1 tile away from a bit more of the lucrative flood plain of the other river (along with river-adjacent normal plains).

Good to see you again Arny :b

I think the postition of SS will effect the long term city placement plans proposed by Vulture, unless we move agianst them, which is a shame . If we could agree to a deal whereby they get everything west of the great lake and we get everything east we could probably work well with that?????

We could get a core in the north and a core in the south?

Full PM-box? Change here!

So I think we should head for the hill and plan to build there, the 2 turns it takes will give us opportunity to consider longer term factors of building a city there.

Also we could do with building the city soon so we can pop the hut north of SS which is definately going to be a stlr this time.

Like I said above the level 5 rcp and camps plan can't pan out w/o action against SS, although perhaps we could move it east. Would a primary core be better in the north or south?

I think the worker priority next should be to irrigate the plains near the new city to give it some shields to work with. Next city should go south somewhere, next to the river, to make use of the plains/river/irrigation combo which gives us decent growth, shields and good cash flow.

Agree with jag then settler build. We need to explore NE and SW, in addition to the two we have near sunshine. One of those can scout around the lake to fill in the blanks (and so we can see SS territory as they expand), and the other should probably go west to the coast and head north along the coast to look for more contacts that way.

Suggest new city focuses on barracks, jags and workers for a while - we definietly need more workers to get decent use out of this land, and should have a decent supply of veteran jags in case we need to 'negotiate' with SS over who owns fishing rights in the lake.
