	Nominations thread for October elections Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

Here are the positions up for grabs:

President: atawa OR cavebear

City Planner:

Foreign Minister: Ben Kenobi OR ljcvetko

Minister of War: shade

Science Advisor:

Imperial Expansion:

Historian:

I have listed the positions in rough order of importance and amount of work involved, for anyone unfamiliar with demogames (We haven't had a Historian or Expansion Minister for a while).

You can nominate yourself or someone else... but the someone else has to subsequently agree to run, of course

Today is the 25th (where I am, anyway). I'd like to close the nominations on the 28th and have 3 days of elections, so that we will have a new government by October 1. However, if we are missing nominees for key positions, we may need to hold nominations longer.

So nominate early, and if you are undecided about running for election, think of the all the +1s you'll get.

The current ministers are doing a good job imo but it would also be good if some new people stepped up this time.
Most ministry's are not that hard work and (at least to me) its pretty good fun. Besides, you get the save

I am honored by the nomination.

However, I don't think someone should be Minister of War for 3 months in a row. I've been MoW August and September. There are plenty of other Citizens who would do well at the job.

It's probably the most interesting job to hold next to being President and actually playing the sessions. It's time for someone else to be our SMC.

the problem with all those member is you don't know who is arround and active. Those who have more than 3 posts in 30 days are the only ones i really consider and there is just not enough of them.

RL is once again in the way of my wonderfull civ playing and i am not able to run as i'd hoped.

If you now have full computer access to the game, I encourage you (and anyone else) to run for MoW. The FM job is important, but being MoW is more engaged in our current type of game. A lot of detailed military plans will need to be made soon, and someone will be needed to do that!

It's obvious that banana can perform the duties of science minister. I would like to contend for one of more important positions in the cabinet in spite of low chances I have as a newbie. Let's have some sort of democratic elections for the position of Foreign Minister.

I nominate myself for that post.

I didn't run for some other empty posts fearful I might lose to banana.

Ambition has some value. At least there will be a contested election. I'll be interested to hear what the candidates for Foreign Minister have to say during the election cycle.

I dislike the suggestion that the Science Minister position is all that easy, though. There are subtleties of maximizing beakers that I have yet to master. The devil is always in the details...

Gotta start somewhere, and an uncontested post is usually a good place to start. I started as a cityplanner because I like the micromanagement even though I never was elected.

I took over from a delinquent minister.

It is 8:15 local time. I will post the elections in 4 hours or so unless there are some major objections.

It's nice to see some contested elections, but who will be our City Planner and Science Minister? More nominations are welcome, especially for the vacant posts.

OK. Here's the deal.

If nobody will run for the other positions I suggest the winner of the elections for foreign minister takes over the post of science minister as well and the loser takes city planner and expansion positions.

Our practice is for the President to seek volunteers for the vacant positions. Naturally, candidates who have shown their interest in public service but have lost their election are likely to be asked, but it is not required. We avoid having one person hold 2 Minister positions.
