	UN poll Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

Here's a poll being conducted at 1BC; the UN for this game. I will be voting for our team there. These are the options. Please discuss and then vote accordingly. Please wait a day before voting, so that you get to hear others arguments before you vote. Thanks.

This is all very unclear to me.

The first two options seem to (mostly) specify the time; the second half of the options the location (civ) the refugees may go to. Thus, we should get 2 votes.

Regarding that second half:

What is meant by "if contact has been established with ..." ? Who is the first civ in that equation? Why does contact need be established anyway? To simulate the refugees' travels?

this is too complicated, let me put it in layman's terms :

CDG left on Turn 102, Grenouille on Turn 114 and Firaxis on Turn 118

Option 1 :
Firaxis, CDG, Grenouille can join ANY team with immediate effect

Option 2 :
CDG members can join ANY team.
Grenouille can only join on turn 124 and Firaxis turn 128.

Option 3 :
CDG had contact with CFC, GCA, Poly. GCA does not have contact with Webringen (?) and CGN. So, CDG members can only join Poly, CFC and GCA.
Grenouille had contact with Webringen and CGN. CGN does not have contact with GCA and CFC. So, Grenouille members can only join Poly, CGN, Webringens.
Firaxis had contact with Webringen and CGN. CGN does not have contact with GCA and CFC. So Firaxis members can only join Poly, CGN and Webringens.

Option 4 :
CDG had contact with Poly. Poly had contact with everybody. So, CDG members can join ANY team.
Grenouille had contact with Webringens. Webringens had contact with everybody except GCA. So Grenouille members can join all teams except GCA.
Similarly, Firaxis members can join all teams except GCA.

Problem with Option 3 and 4 : the Teams have to disclose to UN whom they had contact with.
I did this very quickly, pls point out if there is any error.

I believe that we are currently courting refugees from all of the departed teams. Hence strictly from a team interest point of view, we should pick the option that allows all refuges to join with us and as few other teams as possible.

That sounds like #3

Having said that, it is also in our interest to effectively block #2. We may need to authorize our team representative to vote for #3, or #4, or #1 in that order so that our vote secures an outcome (3 votes for) the outcome is the best fit for our interests. We also need to direct our team representative to be very thurough when searching for team vote intelligence.

IMHO its asinine to not let everyone view that poll and the other locked stuff. I understand not posting there, but it should be open to all, not just one or two people from a team.

BTW, so far, including our vote, options 1,3,4, & abstain have each recieved one vote. So it is a 3 way tie for 1,3 and 4 for now.

4 out of the 5 remaining teams have cast a vote.

GCA abstained
GWT has not voted
CFC voted for #1
APO voted for #3

We can still have a majority of the choices we have. If GWT, who has not yet voted, were to place a vote for one of the options that has already recieved a vote, then that option is the winner.

That is not a Majority. For example:

2 votes for Option #1 and one vote each for Option #3 and #4 means that option #1 got 50% of the vote; which is not a Majority. 51% or more is a Majority.

Fair enough, but if that scenario were to happen, then how could we reduce the options in a way that would put us in a better position? If that were to happen, we would have 2 teams voting for 1 option with a vote each on 2 others....which one do you remove? You would still be in the same boat.

I'm not saying I wouldn't be happy with the decison that would allow the option with the most votes to win; only that is is not a majority. I think the majority of us just want this issue decided one way or another.

They won't want to join GCA when we get through with them anyway.

In any case though, our final vote was apparently what the final UN vote was too.

There was a log jam at the UN with 3 teams voting for different options, and 2 teams not voting. I supported BigFree in resolving the log jam by switching support to an option which was reasonably close to the one favoured by our population.
