I really started this thread, because I was interested in the cultural aspect.

Tour opporators in Thailand, Cambodia, and Loas also advertise their sex tours here in the US. I believe Ashcroft has been cracking down on Americans who go over seas and whom have sex with child prostitutes. Oerdin: I can definately believet that. I've been wanting to go to Thailand to thailand for a while and have been asking gf about it since she was there relatively recently and most of what I've gotten out of her is shock at the number of hookers there (and this is compared to Korea where there isn't exactly a lack of prostitution ) and stories about European tourists trying to buy her for the night...

Thailand is over run by organized prostitution. I couldn't make it through a day without being "propositioned" at least half a dozen times. Korea there are lots of prostitutes but generally they stay with in their designated red light district and don't bother normal people.

The night market is pretty cool, but the bars seem to be the generic loud & run down sort, and they have that big hill where all the call girls work. All the GIs used to call it "hooker hill".

Hmmm, I've been there twice and although I only spent a total of five weeks there about half of it was in Seoul. I'm sure we hit up all of the bars in the foreigners section Itawon at one time or another though I was often drunk on soju so my memory is a bit faded. I do remember a place at the top of hooker hill called the soju kettle and there was this midget hooker run anround trying to get guys to buy her for an hour! That place was funny as hell and lots of male and female American GIs hung out there so it was a great place to try to pick up American expat girls who were having a girls night out. Of course you had to watch out; if you drank to much then the hookers would zoom in and try to take you off to that hotel at the top of the hill.

As for food there were tons of good places around seoul but my favorite was to go to the little stalls in the night market and just eat the same stuff the young korean guys were eatting.
