Regarding the pronunciation of "c", I have been taught at school that it is always pronounced as "k", but only 30 years ago, they used to pronounce it all as "s" on schools, so apparently there's been a change in the way people think it was pronounced. Same for the "ae" sound. Nowadays we say "ai", 30 years ago "ey".
Take for example Caesar. Now we say: "Kaisar", before it was "Seysar" (still not as in english "Sisar".
I doubt however that they taught us the correct pronunciation anyway, not only because simply nobody knows how it was really pronounced, but also cause we have been taught awful ways to pronounce Ancient Greek, which are totally false.
