If we were to meet God on a regular basis, some would appreciate God, others would simply get used to the situation. Take a look at the OT where the presence of God was manifest among the people of Israel, and see how the people responded.

I'm not sure how immortality would work, though I would think that it would have negative benefits, for religious faith. Why rely on God if you are immortal? Why would you be subject to God's judgment?

I foresee extremely long-term mortgage payments that have me forking over 30,000 times the original value of my house in interest, for starters. Not to mention "New Immortality Vanilla," no hope of a Castro-free Cuba, wealth stagnating due to the lack of estate taxes, ten thousand years of Eminem...we can make our lives suck no matter how long they last. Nuts to immortality, I want contentment and a nice wife.

Humans would still die, sooner or latter we would get into a fatal car crash, victom of a crime, ect. Or we would over populate the earth and we would not have the resources to support our numbers and would slowly die off untill balance was reached. As long as human are imperfect and do evil things, we will still die.

Also if you scenario played out humans would not be immortal, we would still be mortal. Immortality mean that you cant die by any means, or that you cant die at all.

I wish people wouldn't say that you'd get bored being immortal. Maybe after one hundred thousand years I'll end it all, maybe not, but I think it's absurd to deny it on the basis that it might be boring.

Anyway, how does Heaven stop from becoming dull?

Why would living forever be boring? Life is never borring. That is such a stupid thing to say. You are saying you would rather die then be borred? Then why not kill yourself the next time your borred?

I think that those who go, would never feel bored by heaven. We hear some ideas of what heaven is like, but we won't really know until we get there.

As to heaven and boredom, there is no real answer because nobody except Christ and the angels has ever been there and come back. The best explanation I've heard is that heaven is outside space and time as we currently understand them, being an eternal kingdom, and therefore boredom cannot occur because the existence of boredom implies the possibility of change.

I agree that eternal life would only be boring insofar as our own faults make it boring. There are probably lots of people out there who would go crazy if they ran out of things to want. Maybe I'm one of them. Maybe we all are. Who knows, right?

I'm not sure all these fears of a massive population explosion everywhere would be entirely justified. The death rate due to violence would still be pretty high. The main reason it doesn't seem so high now is that so many other things can kill us first. Probably the overall death rate would drop to about a third of what it is presently and not much more than that. If *nothing* was done to control population growth *and* nobody died to violence at all you would still find that population growth in countries like Germany which currently have a gradual population decline would probably still be a small fraction of overall world population growth even if the "immortality" was confined only to such wealthy nations.

For example compare germany's birth rate to Albania. Even if germany's death rate was actually zero it would still grow more slowly than albania currently does.

Albania:

18.2 births/1,000 population (2003 est.)

6.48 deaths/1,000 population (2003 est.)

Germany:

8.6 births/1,000 population (2003 est.)

10.34 deaths/1,000 population (2003 est.)
