One question- what are the little islands in the mid Atlantic? The only thing I can think of is Bermuda, which is a lot further west, south of Newfoundland.

If it was WWII, it'd be really one-sided. The US would be huge while Germany, USSR, and Japan are either not even represented or very small.

Just as a warning about the nile: The ancient Egyptians had real trouble with the cataracts (I hope I spelt that right), sets of unnavigable rapids. This would make it impossible to sail from Alexandria to Khartoum. There's also the matter of Niagra Falls: it appears you can sail straight down the St Lawrence to the great lakes.

I accept I'm wrong about the St Lawrence, but out of interest- how do they get past Niagra?

Niagra? I hope you had wrong keystrokes, Mik; this must be a clean thread[quote]

Look, I'm not being sarcastic or anything, I am seriously interested- is there a canal or other route (This is important for a scenario I'm working on)

Prometeus- Sorry, did I seem angry? I was just wanting an answer for my question, and I didn't want people to go past it thinking it was stupid.
