My fellow Apolytonians:
It my pleasure to announce my candidacy for Consul of Apolyton in the Intersite Democracy Game in our very first consular elections. I believe it is my duty, as a citizen of Apolyton, and as a patriot to offer my services to the well being of this great empire in this time of glory.
You may ask yourselfs: Master Zen, why are you running, against our team father figure, nye? Do you have even a remote hope of winning?
To these nay-sayers I say one thing: I HAVE BALLS. I am not afraid of defeat. I am not afraid of humilliation. I am not afraid of getting no votes. I am not afraid of Banana beating me. I am made of stern jungle material and I will prove to the world that I laugh at even the most adverse electoral result, one that would make Walter Mondale blush.
So, my fellow Apolytonians, on October 7th you will be facing the most momentous decision in your empire's history. You must decide once and for all who is the best man to lead our nation to glory. The most capable, talented, individual, the one with most patience, the one most willing to endure 3 hour long war chats, the one who can idle the most in the irc room, the one who can make page long WF allocation posts. It is that man, who you must choose to become your Consul.
That man is NOT me!
Vote for a patriot. Vote for a natural leader. Vote for Apolyton's biggest mack daddy, in other words:
Vote for NYE!!!!!!!

Master Zen is indecisive and fickle, unable to pick an avatar he can stick with. This would make him a particularly poor choice for Consul, though a perfect diplomat to the right foreign nation(s). NYE, while certainly boring, has drunk plenty of beer while in office (hey, that's a reason to vote for him!) and shown a degree of avatar consistency indicative of his stability and reliabilty as a Consul.

Maser Zen's use of a two-word nick in forum posting cannot be easily translated to use in chats because he is required to turn Master Zen into MasterZen. This shows that Master Zen failed to look ahead when picking a forum nick conducive to a chat environment where he might serve as Consul. notyoueither was obviously thinking ahead when he chose his nick because it is easy to type in chat and does not require any alteration for this purpose.

Master Zen's flamboyant use of color and pizaz, while I'm sure it's found to be amusing by certain Webringen diplomats for which Master Zen performs, is not necessarily the demeanor required of a Consul. NYE's boring signiture remains a sign of the dull and uninspiring, yet comforting sense of stability that he projects to the citizenry here.

Master Zen, on the other hand, has one of the highest (if not the highest?) posts per day on Apolyton. Where notyoueither has slowly built up his post count over ages of spamming government and court threads, Master Zen has embarked upon an unholy crusade to gain a place in the top 20 posters on Apolyton through spamming. Master Zen should slow down and realize that his place as a top spammer will eventually come to him with a bit more patience... ok, and more spamming, too.

While notyoueither is indeed a Canadian and thus a member of the greater Canadian conspiracy, it is also true that Master Zen is a Mexican and a member of the greater Mexican conspiracy. It's a clothespin vote, I will admit. Since they're both contemptable in this regard, it's not really an important issue.

You are an evil "Lizard Commander" seeking to overthrow the Mexican phone network and then the internet. You will not succeed, of course, but your very attempt will sap too much of your time and energy to be able to fill in as Consul.

You may have notyoueither here, but not because you don't drink. I have to hand it to you that you drink BETTER drinks than him.  That said, this may make you a worse candidate for Consul, as notyoueither's choice of good old boring beer is a sign of his commitment to being one with common man.

This demonstrates that Master Zen's attentions, time, and dedication are divided between too many pursuits, his website not even being one of his civ icons. Surely, the spammer with few forums to spam will dedicate more of his energy to at least making his spamming somewhat appropriate to the few forums to which he does so.

The rotation of Consulships was merely an evil plan (tm) by Master Zen to ensure that notyoueither, our great and revered leader, was rotated out of office and that Master Zen could replace hiim without the trouble of this election!
Of course, he's the master of Evil Plans (tm). There's probably a part of the plan where notyoueither then becomes convinced to crucify this guy named "NYE". hmm... that's already happened!!!
Do not be fooled, my fellow citizens, he is out to destroy us all!

But Master Zen's new organization for his lizard minions is named after a part of the female anatomy (which I won't repeat here...), which suggests that either he actually does not have balls afterall or is perhaps a hermaphrodite. It seems that Master Zen, the leader and founder of this organization, has much to answer for!

You're right, in part. The thing is, while a lot of people voted for vondrack, Ninot, and Trip as first choices (with vondrack getting more than twice either Ninot or Trip), notyoueither, received nearly EVEYRONE's second votes.
So, while there weren't a ton of people attempting to make sure NYE made it (largely because I think it was simply assumed that NYE would make it w/o their help), nearly EVERYONE wanted notyoueither to be a Consul.
As it turned out, the second votes you got were enough to beat out Trip by 0.48 votes, if I recall correctly
That said, the real campaign was the Trip-Ninot rematch. It was just sort of assumed that you and vondrack would both make it.
