We should be getting gene splicing and will be lifting the other restrictions.
I have some ideas on where to go from here, but I want to hear some ideas from the rest of you on how you think we should go about the game.
If I don't get ideas then we're losing the advantage of playing in a team.

Well, I think my long-term plan is quite clear.
We plant masses of bases and drill b-holes and bang in some condensors, as per "the Jamski plan" we should fill up our continent (well, our half of it anyway) as soon as we can. After that or at the same time we should try to do some scouting looking for :
The Cycon, Uni and Pirates bases,
Another free continent to expand onto,
The AI factions.
We should DEFINITLY have a good chance of grabbing governor if we can convince one of the AI factions to make a pact, and maybe even if we don't.
Then... we probably want to commence millitary actions against either the CyCOn or the Uni, and try to woo the other one into our alliance to give us a tech helper. Can't hurt to have more tech, can it?
Infilteration of ALL factions will be required before they can get masses of defensive probes up. The "b-site" faction on the next land mass should be our first target.
We should also try and give all our many bases at least the minimum facilities : Nodes, tanks, (rec commons?) and the CN will provide the Command Centres we need. Tree farms would be of use too.
We are building lots of bases, so all SPs that give a fac in every base should be a target. Lets aim for CN, Energy Grid (very useful) CBA, etc.
It would be GREAT if we could get the energy grid, that would solve our cash problems for good. So we could consider chasing up that tech route...?

In addition to what Jamski said we're looking at getting MMI, and keeping our tech rate comparable to other factions through the use of limited pop booming and specialists.
If we can't boost our tech rate signifcantly I have reservations we'll be able to research planetary economics in time.
Of course we could try trading for it, but it seems unlikely the other factions will be willing to trade a tech with a SP attached.
More comments or options are welcomed.

We need to start focusing on a navy and exploreing the other factions locations. Need to make contact with at least one other, also we need to explore more quickly on our own continent don't have all that maney units out for the number of bases we have..we have switched to police state right?

Yep we are.
Why build a navy when there's going to be no more sea!
Although we are going to build a few ships for exploring purposes.
