Good suggestion, about investigating again. This may prove that they have no catapults present, which would make our case even stronger.

If there were catapults, wouldn't we see them attack our MI when we killed their spears ?

I don't think you would Hot_E, if the catapoults attacked then they used up their moves and I don't think they bombard on defense until the start of your next turn. Thats how it seems to work in single player against the ai anyways.

But if they have cats present they do at least still have to be there (due to being 1 move units that can't die from attacking), and we'll see them in the investigation.

Yes, you would. They have no Cats in Algalord. It would be impossible for them to use them on us and then move them out. I found this out by playing the turn exactly as nye had done already. There were no Cats to bombard our attacks.

btw, looking at the save and clicking around cities...

WW is upon us. About 25%. This is before we attack, and after (no change). Go into a city, adjust WF, and it will show up.

Damn, and even playing with the WF settings of Bananatopia is not enough to generate enough trade to get enough Luxuries to combat it.

We will have to go to 20% Luxuries on the slider (it could have been worst without the Silks).

Bananatopia is the only city that is majorly effected by the War weariness.

At 10% Luxes, all cities that are size 5 without a Temple or size 6 with a temple are o.k. We will need 20% for Bananatopia to keep from Civil disorder, as it will be at size 7 or greater.

It will soon need a Marketplace, but only if the war continues for a while.

Can't we just use an entertainer in Bananatopia if the rest of our empire will do with 10%?
Or will this delay the production of the settler?

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

It will delay both it's planned growth to size 9 and then the settler, which brings it back to size 7. This settler is important, as it's needed to build new cities in the old CDG area.

Plus, getting the settler out of the way now will allow us to start on something else.

On the next turn, we might have to use a specialist, but that would reduce it's growth and possibly keep us from having 10 SPT.

It's a BIG Risk, but we do have 2 NM's that could attack still, they being 2/3 and 2/4 against a 3/4 Forted Sword. We could lose 1 if not both, reducing our defencive forces and leaving the army more open to attack. But it would generate our GA and should give us enough trade to not have to go to 20% Lux.

I'd say it is time to delay the settler in Banana and build a damn Market Place. The lux slider and entertainer ideas are just stop gap measures.

Also, what happens if we don't adjust the WF in any cities this turn? If you dont adjust, then the War Weariness doesn't appear. It wont appear until next turn when Banana grows. If this is not possible, then assigning an entertainer in Banana is much more preferable than settig the lux slider to 20%. Going from 10% to 20% on the slider costs us ~10gpt. This is until the Market Place can be finnished in 7 turns from now if we put the next WF on the mined hill.

I'd rather not risk the damaged NM's trying to set off our GA....but that too is an option; I will think on that some more.

Wrong about the WW, if we don't do anything with the WF. You can do that and find out next turn that we have 1 city that is under Civil Disorder.

And If you do that, then I will resign and call for a CoC on all of the consuls who make a desicion like that. I DO KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!!!

The continual production in all of our cities is more paramount than seeing if it won;t happen. Because it will.

Now, we talked about getting the new lands that are open to us for new cities, let's finish what we have started (i.e. that one settler) and then we can start on a Marketplace. But doing that, while we are at war and not yet certain that we won't need an additional unit (or 2) from that city is also not a good idea. Until We either have Algalord in our hands OR they have razed it and we are about to take their Capitol AND they still don't have Iron, then I will recommend building a Marketplace. At 10 sheilds per turn, IT will NOT be finished before the end of the war. Expanding our territory and getting more cities for our GA is more of a paramount issue that a few GPT at this stage of the game.

Who the hell pulled your panties into your A$$ Crack?

Who said anything about E_T not knowing what he's talking about?

The fact that Banana may be in disorder might be true, it was only a suggestion up for discussion, it was not a doorway for you to barge through and slam me. Keep your attacks to yourself or for when you are attacked yourself.

Now, can we get back to discussing this?

Well, back on topic (please guys - let us stay focussed on the task at hand):

if we build that settler, then we will have lower pop for a time, which will aid in countering the effects of WW. The gold we have is not going towards very much right now, which is a result of our 10spt cities. If we keep the 10spt, then the gold is not of any great use to us right now, as units will still stream out every 3-4 turns - only a huge amount of gpt would speed that up.

Risking damaged NMs? Fine, but only if were extremely confident of victory and if we had a few to play with - with only 2 left in that stack I must insist we conserve them unitl we get sufficient replacements.

Now that we have lost a substantial number of 1 move-per-turn units, we must seriously look at our unit queues - these units take 3-4 turns to build and then 4-5 turns to move to the front, so we must ensure we have a healthy surplus for losses just such as we have incurred. Horsemen can be at the front in a shorter time, and they have been of little use to us so far. Yes I realise Horsemen will be great to upgrade to Knights, but that is not a short-term prospect. Short-term, we can expect engagements like the one at Algalord - with heavily fortified enemy positions that require maximum firepower to do any damage at all - thus we need the NMs and MIs.

The thing is that by the time we get new MIs built and send south the war will probably be over. Or at least the decisive battles will be. 3 new Horses have made it just in time.

RESULTS

Action taken not in orders thread:

-Renamed new NM from Mingapulco to "Soren the Numedian Mercenary."

-WWNN moves 2 to scout.

-New Settler from Apolyton moved to Mingapulco; will be heading towards old CDG lands.

-not_panag the Warrior moved 6 to meet Barb Horsemen.

-GCA slave worker renamed to "4 tiles to Catchopolis" and moved to 8 of Algalord as 'bait.'

-Victorious Horsemen Mingapulco moved to 5 of Algalord to spy GCA lands and to be bait for a GCA unit.

All other oders completed as nye posted. nye's posted moves were done first. The only discrepancy that I saw was that the last Spear of GCA to defend against VonHorseman went down to 1 pip instead of 2, so he was 1/5 at end of turn. He may heal all the way back to 5/5 if he was there at begining of last turn for GCA.

After nye's posted moves, I carried out moves as suggested and posted by Trip and ET.

Screen shots to follow.

Here are nye's posted moves:
