	Civ 3 won't run on W98 Tired of ads?

My civ 3 won't run on W98, I have updated my video and sound drivers, installed active X and it just won't start up. thanks...

It runs fine on my Win98Se and my XP PRO systems. The drivers on my Win98 are not new at all, it is not connected to the net.

So do you in fact have a commercial copy. I mean one that you bought, not a download. I know there where issue with some warez version after they got patched.

If it is legit, contact their support.
BTW what exactly happens, does it install and not load or what?

thanks for you answere, yes it installs, then won't load, it is a purchased disk, and i have tried it on my other computer with win 200o and it works fine there.

What version of direct x do you have installed? Did you update it from the CivIII disk? If you had 9.0 or 9.0a, you need to get 9.0b.
The 9.0b is the one that is for Win98.

The other thing to check is the desktop settings. If you are at 800, you need to go to 1024 or check the thread here for issues with running at 800.
