Oh and Kody I need a copy of the game right after you discovered it (you did save right?) so i can consider possible actions. Thanks.

Right. I have looked at it.
If we choose to let the scout stay and not destroy it then we need to move Rover (9,25) to (10,24). Also, we need to begin moving rover (23,31) to (16,24) (this will take two turns, but the scout movement will not change this).
If the scout decides to do anything but move back, we need to move rover (10,24) onto the nut right north-east of it (when the time comes I will provide the co-ordinates).
It is important that these instructions are followed as they will restrict the scout movement and ensure that we are able to deal with it should we choose that option.
If we decide to attack, it is best to now, cause if we wait even a turn they can move to a defensive location and it will be considerably harder to take it out.
If we do decide to attack, just attack it directly with rover (9,25) immediately. The open ground and experience should provide enough bonus for us to be sucessful (what are our moral levels by the by?)

hopefully this image works.
[edit] I've posted the image on another server... try this one..

The first rover movement is the green arrow. The purple dot is where the other rover should be going. If they are planning to stick around/be hostile (hopefully they won't), then they will move following the blue arrow (cause if they do anything else, it is suicide). Not to worry, if this happens then we follow red arrow, and all movement towards our units would result in the complete destruction of the university scout.

Take it out now as I don't see how that would be tipping our millitary prepardness, we have units in our cities and we have units around them exploring they don't have to know how many or have any other than that we just got lucky to have one close by. Definitly should contact them afterwards and say that we do not accept interlopers on our land and any further movements in that vain will result in a decleration of vendetta and that we claim the entire continent along with outlying islands. Then we should move to probe them immeaditly to see how much of a threat they might be and if they are one then work so that they are not if they are not work on defense build up millitary perhaps put some standing units at "border" try a contanment strategy. Oh welcome back marshal glad to see you out of curiosoity you wouldn't need someone to lead the probe actions and take that responsibility away from you?
Glory to the hive!

quote: Your first rover can't move there as that is in the scout's ZOC. The rover can get to the nut square, however, by going N for 1 then E for 1, thus blocking the scout's further northward perambulation. |
*smacks self on head cause he knows that...*
Problem with though, googlie, is that it puts our rover within striking distance of the scout. The most effective way to utilize a rover is to keep it so that it can attack the unit, or put it in a defensive place such as rocky or fungus. Rovers don't take well to being attacked themselves.
Really it should just go to the river then back onto the rocky one north-east. That way if the scout does go north or east, we can still attack it from afar.
Sorry guys, i slipped up on that count.

Other rover is tied up take care of that last mindworm.
The first rover moves onto the river then onto the rocky.
The university met us during their turn, but didn't bother to contact us at all.

Kody and I have conferred, and there is a probe team we can put on the purple dot instead. It is only 4ec (he says) to take the scout, so if it does get hostile, we will use it. The rover will be there to minimize movement and provide reinforcement.

That is partly my fault - they sat on the turn for 48 hours with no-one playing it, then after I nudged them, a junior librarian opened it and announced the Hive contact, what to do? etc,
What with people's general unavailability and whatnot, time was running out, so preplanned moves were executed, the game saved and zipped and then sent onwards under, by then, intense time pressure.
