...what appeared to be a UFO? It was taken from above as part of a constant video feed.

Looked real to me...

Paul, I wouldn't buy any 'rational explanation'. That was a bolt of energy fired at a UFO, which changed direction to avoid the energy. That's what it was. No weather balloon in sight!

The first time was of the NASA channel, and they were explaining that it was not what it obviosly was. The second time was on a UFO type show.

Che, nope, not SciFi. I'm telling you guy, looked like someone was blasting away at a UFO. The only object moving, in space, and this enegy bolt comes up a second after it jogged.

If thats the one I think it is (sorry, can't download right now) then if it is an actual weapon its like no weapon thats ever been hinted at.
It isn't a missile/rail gun and its certainly not photonic or a charged particle beam which, realistically, leaves some sort of pulsed plasma weapon.

ie: Its not us shooting at the little grey guys.
Its the tall blue guys shooting at the little grey guys from one of their subterranean bases.
Not very sociable but then the tall blue guys never are really.

I've seen this video on TV several times. It is supposedly from NASA files. Considering the video technology available at the onset of spaceflight, it's not surprising that it's of such horrible quality.

If it's legit, then it isn't easilly explained...

It appears as if something hit the ice particle. We see a flash just at the time the ice particle takes off. Note also that after the thrusters fire, another ice particle that was stationary begins to move away from the spacecraft, but not in the same trajectory as the thruster blast. This indicates that the thruster is angled relative to the axis of the spacecraft and explains why the "angles" are different between the particles and the thruster blast.
