I work at a contact lens company. I get to see all sorts of fun things while working on the website.

Progressive Outer Retinal Necrosis (PORN)
PORN is secondary to the herpes zoster virus with many patients having a recent history of dermatological vesicular lesions. Clinically PORN presents with multifocal yellowish white patches in the deeper (outer) retinal layers. These areas can become confluent leading to full thickness necrosis with subsequent multiple retinal detachments. Unlike ARN, there is minimal to no vitritis and macula involvement with a cherry red spot presentation is common. Progression is rapid and visual prognosis is poor even with medical treatment.

You're lucky that I'm not posting the bad stuff. I don't think the mods would go for some of the eye infections I get to see. I just thought this one had a funny name.

One of my friends used to work for the Journal of Wound Care, a specialist medical publication. All of the pictures in the magazine were absolutely disgusting, and the level of gruesome detail describing problems from anal-vaginal fistulas was too much.
(this is not as funny as you might think)

Really, the Reed-Elsivier publication? I think I know somebody who works on this pub. I know several editors at Elsevier (formerly Harcourt (formerly Mosby)).
