I'll play PeaceKeepers.
My hotmail account has low storage capacity so whoever sends their move to me will have to send it zipped. Billci54@hotmail.com.
Everyone should also have SMAC v5 patch, right?
Unless you are very experienced with getting a new game up and running, I hope we get a CMN (Creator/Moderator/Narrator) for the game.

My experience has been that ALL turns are sent zipped-- people with a lot of games going would be constantly overfilling their email account otherwise
Everyone should be fully patched
I'll play as the gaians

Put me in as the University, assuming we're playing with directed research. Hopefully a CMN will set up the game.

I'm showing up too late to join this game, I see. But if anyone is wanting to organize more SMAC classic games, feel free to PM me. I'd be a PBEM newbie, but am very interested.
Good luck with the current game.

just delete the x's
I hope there is a CMN as the in-game map generator can give players wildly unfair starts . .. I don't mind those bad starts against the AI but against human players . . . its crippling

I'd be in as Gaians in the second game, xxxpre@po.cwru.eduxxx

Actually, if you use The Ultimate Builder Map you can be assured of a good start site. The map has been extensively tested and balanced far apart start sites are 98% guaranteed. Using my map eliminates the need for a CMN! Also, extra resources and pods act to accelerate progress.

I'd be interested in playing a second game on DD's map as the University. I'd still prefer a CMN, so that he would have everyone's password if someone drops out.

Mongoose has taken on the "hold passwords only" CMN role for several games --surely one more won't hurt?

Oops, they sure were. Hive is a good second choice for me, looking (this time) at what's been taken.

Back to the first game for a sec
I was hoping in the rules we could haver CO-victory off OR have a rule that no two human players can win together ( you could team with an AI)-- I just find it ruins the game for two strong players to team up to the end . . .

I haven't played any PBEMs to that point, but that does seem plausible. As far as rules are concerned, I'd also prefer that random events were turned off.

I assume random events WILL be off-- As for CO-OP, I know that tournament rules allow as many as TWO human controlled factions to share the victory
I just find it more interesting diplomatically if everyone knows they are ultimately alone. Some of the more boring games were ones where two (of perhaps 3 evenly matched players) team up to the bitter end . . . .

OK, so in game 1, it's teaming with the AI but not a human, and random events off. Sounds good so far. I'm ready to start.

Me too-- who is responsible for setting up the game ???

In self-start mode, it would be the Gaian player who starts. That would be me in game 2.

Should we start the second game? We have four players already:
Gaians - DilithiumDad
Hive - Fosse
University - Minute Mirage
Peacekeepers - Net Warrior

It seems I'm repeating myself here, but is there still interest for the second game?

Hey DD, maybe you should just start the game while we're still looking.
BTW, where can I download a copy of the map? |
You can download the map here.

Johndmuller has agreed to hold the passwords for the second game, if we want to start it. I'm interested in playing, but what about you others, i.e. Net Warrior, DilithiumDad and Fosse?
