I don't know about the rest of you...

I am fairly certain that everyone checks in here fairly often, even if you are not active. That's fine. But the game is back ON, and it is therefore time to jump back in...

In a broad sense I am committed to the ISDG, because we are defending Apolyton's honor (yeah, CFC is more active, but we are better), but what I really care about is US, the Strat guys and GS... I know it has been a bit of a slog lately, and I TOTALLY respect the efforts that have been made thus far, and I also acknowledge that we are coming up to the point where in SP many would flag...

NOW is the time to rally!! NOW is FUN!! The South, the North... now is the Big Push!

The ISDG is undergoing a crisis, and also does not have the community aspects that the PTWDG does... jump back in here with me, and let's ROCK!!

There's been about three posts in our forum over the last, oh, four days. Not what I call active.

Still, let's get this game rolling...

So, yeah, between 'poly being screwed up, and GoW/ND having ROP problems, and RL commitments, and burn out...

Things have been, uh, slow.

I don't care.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR THE STORM.

So whats the plan then, how many units will land on GoW in how many turns?

I think GoW are likely stockpileing units north of Spain ATM, waiting untill Gunpowder before fully commiting all their forces south.

What about trying to buy them into attacking ND?

Uhhhhhh.

non-existant I think.

I can't recall who was in contact with GoW.

Perhaps Vel with his smooth talk could get some information from them. I am certainly too clumsy to get anywhere.

Are we talking about hiring GoW for a backstab against ND, or offering it to them as a way to save their measily skin, or both? GoW hate us, don't they, and would surely rather die than work with us - I'd have thought. ND's 3-movers have the lower defense, so yes, they'd be a better victim of a BS within that alliance - though I thought the feeling here was that we'd prefer to deal with the more sober ND rather than the mouth-frothing GoW.

I could probably draft something if given the key points.

I hope you have some reinforcements en route, my general... this force could be very easily dealt with by GoW / ND. By some good chaining, we could get another 8 units in place in the same turn, as was proposed over a month ago. Somehow, 16 units don't seem enough to scare them, I wouldn't want them to laugh over it, dismiss them easily, and get on with their business in the South. Maybe better to wait a few turns to be able to put forward a bigger threat.

As to renewed urgency: I agree, although can't get more active the coming days / weeks. Nearly all my internet time goes into 'poly, but it's not much. I can comment on plans, but can't put forward plans on my own... sorry for this, but I really have other priorities right now, once my g/f is used to it, I'll get some more time here. Not everyone is like Amy, you know

They can't just eliminate 16 units on defensive terrain without damaging their capacity to smash the south, and they can't just sit there while a we build up a monster beach-head.

I think we'd be over-estimating their strength if we thought they could laugh at such a force. By that I wasn't sure whether you meant that they'd destroy our force or ignore it. I don't think they can project power in the south and defend their core. Even if our force got smacked up in the north, we'd surely have saved the south.

Cort Haus, don't forget that they have 2 teams, and only one credible beach head to defend. they won't easily dismiss 16 3-defense units, but it's not a real threat either... If we want to do anything with them, we have to attack at least one city, meaning that we'll suffer some losses, and get wounded units too.

Also, don't forget that (IIRC) we'll be completely on enemy terrain, so can't heal our units... we need reinforcements there pronto, or will only spend some units, instead of really damaging them.

I've seen in the Spartan Academy thread that the plan is to land at Yellowknife 223 (or was it 233?) Is the general aim here to whack a few GoW cities, or to reduce their forces? I think it would be useful to have a definite target before we go in so we don't do a Vox and get sidetracked into doing nothing useful at all.

The problem is that, without the ability to heal, once we are in GoW territory they can pick us off quite easily, and take fewer losses than we do (if we can stay on mountains the whole time we can even up the losses - and they actually lose 17 units killing our 16 on average). Once we stray off mountains, we are going to come off with worse losses in any engagement, and they're not going to conveniently leave a pile of riders or ansars around within striking range (not when they can move 8 tiles and still attack). But the only cities we can hit are ones that aren't going to cost GoW much to replace - small, recently founded towns. We're not going to survive long enough to raze any of their core cities with just the troops we are landing.

So are we just hoping to draw strength away from the south, so that we can retake everything apart from the ND trident cities (or more to the point, have them all razed so that we and RP can resettle the area). Or should we aim for a landing site that can do more damage to GoW cities (if that is remotely plausible)?

Tired of ads?

Exactly, vulture... which is why we need more reinforcements soon if we want to really harm them. And those will need to get there soon too.

I should better check the SA thread, though, I didn't found time to comment on that plan

On the third page of the Turn 145 thread, the second screenshot is of North Stormia, but you can see NE Bob as well.

The landing would be at YK233, on the mountains. I would plan on moving all of the Knights and 2 out of 4 Pike to the hills at YK22, fortifying the remaining 2 Pikes. Reinforcements would be delivered to the mountain, thus giving us non-GoW territory in which to heal.

Got spare money?

I'm back!

Just in time it seems- I just got back from my post boot camp vacation I took for myself, and just in tme it seems.

The news from RP are certainly very serious, and I think force us to at least reconsider our timeline. Landing now doesn't seem like a very good idea- not with just 16 units, not when GoW has Gunpowder, and not when Lego is reconsidering switching sides.

I say we wait, and build our forces, work on Lego with the help of RP, and use our forces to secure ourselves saltpeter- because we won't be able to win and secure Bob by the time RR are here...
