How can the AI be made to use siege units? Full PM-box? Change here!

Is there any way to make the AI use artilllery-type units?

The AI builds very few of them, but they just sit around in the city and never bombard anything, except for the defensive bombardment when someone attacks.

it's close to impossible. Some people have reported some succes, but those cases remain exceptions to the rule. The AI seldom builds artillery units, and almost never uses them offensively.

I hope they fixed this with Conquests.

I'm going to try to make them work like cruise missiles. Another option is to make them Civ 2-style attack unit.

I meant that you could remove the bombardment ability and to give the siege units a high attack rate, like 6/1/1.

This was made in Civ 1 already.

I read in the chat that there have been some improvements in that area. It almost seems unfair at times frankly, it makes battles so much easier to win if you can bombard the crap out of your opponents first.

You could give archers bombardment =1 and longbowmen =3
(Catapults are 4 and cannons are 8). I doubt the AI will use them for attack, but it makes the defense tenacious.

In my game, nonsiege attack and defense units cost one population as well as the shield cost, but archers and longbowmen were given 4 and 8 bombardment to compensate, and I created a monster. The civ that had no horses or iron is proving inpregnable.

Im my games, it's normal get bombarded by airplanes or naval units. Drives me crazy AI using Private units to bombard turn after turn, I have to build several naval units to blockade the attack, and need to rotate my ships or the privates will sink then soon or later.

When on war, my jets get very tired to defend my territory from AI planes

But I don't see AI using ground bombard units.

I've found out that if you bring up a siege unit to the front together with an escort unit and automate it, it will sometimes start to bombard enemy cities and terrain improvements.
