I read that it was once common in some places to give sons the same first name and distiguish them by the middle name. There was something about it in Sherlock Holmes with regard to both Moriaty and Watson.

What I don't understand is that she developed this line of reasoning why she named the child 'Mister Allen' and then she doesn't even use that name. She calls the kid 'Trey'.

Well, at least she didn't name him 'Anfernee'...

Well Trey would be as in the Third , III.I have a friend whi is the third in his family with the same name and he is called Trey also.
It is pretty common for black folks to name kids in an odd, well rather unconventional method, but I wonder what Iverson will name his children? If his little bro and his own son had the same name, perhaps they could pull some fast ones on drivers licenses and documents

No, Spiff. The mother of the celebrity, NBA player Allen Iverson, just gave birth to a child. She named that child as follows: First Name = 'Mister'; Middle Name = 'Allen'. And the last name is still Iverson. According to the article, she intends to call the child neither 'Mister' nor 'Allen', but will instead call him 'Trey'. Does it make sense now?

Allen Iverson (the celebrity) named his ONLY son, Allen II. Allen's MOM just had a kid, who she named Mister Allen. Basically the celebrity now has a brother who is like 25 years younger than him.

I realize that baby names are important, but come on. naming a baby Mister, is just ridiculous.

but...and this isn't a negative thing...black women tend to name their babies based on sound, rather than what the name means. its a cultural thing that white women pick names based on their meaning. typically anway

course that STILL doesn't explain Mister for a baby's name.
so when this baby becomes an adult and gets married it's going to be Mr. and Mrs. Mister Iverson.

My mom works in a hospital, and some woman wanted to name her girl baby "Vagina". She thought it was a pretty word. No idea what it meant.

It took a while, but the hospital staff successfully talked her out of it.
