TEST OF TIME: CAN IT STAND AGAINST CTP AND SMAC? By Dracon September 29, 1999 note: This is The Column, a part of Apolyton where anyone can write about whatever he/she wants :) If you feel like writing, submit your article via the article submission page
I have found that with the release of SMAC and CTP, there were two types of people in Apolyton: Those who liked it, and those who absolutely despised it! They all have their high points and low points: CTP had great graphics and sound, some cool new concepts, but little else. SMAC had great new concepts, all right graphics, but many people weren't looking for a sci-fi game, and people thought the gaming atmosphere was a little too dark, and that Brian Reynolds should've added a little more color to the game. Me? I love SMAC, it's great.
And now The Test of Time. A lot of flak has been aimed at this product, and one person on the
forums bent so low as to say he/she felt he/she had been robbed at gunpoint! ToT comes many new features: linked maps, 3d animated units, extended play on Alpha Centauri, Sci-fi and Fantasy games, an epic scenario, cool music, many new cool events for scenario, loads of new units, technologies, wonders, improvements, and worlds to conquer. So what's everyone complaining about? PLAY CIV!!
