`ACSR GDS`: WARDELL INTERVIEW PROMO
(16 September 2005, 23:46 | Misc | 12 comments) It`s Apolyton Civilization Site Radio (ACSR) live you have never heard it before. ACSR, a service division of Apolyton Civilization Site (ACS), is launching a "Game Developer Series" ("GDS") show as part of its ongoing line-up. Each GDS edition will be hosted by ACS Co-Owner Administrator, Daniel "DanQ" Quick. The first in this series will be a multi-part edition with Stardock Systems (SS) Founder and President Brad "Frogboy"/"Draginol" Wardell. Wardell will be discussing not only his company`s upcoming Galactic Civilizations sequel Dread Lords, but SS itself in relation to how the GalCiv series has reached this point in its development.
In anticipation of this interview, Quick and Wardell have recorded a 2 1/2 minute promo that is now available for listening live on-demand from ACSR`s homepage. In addition to a RealAudio stream at 20kbps, ACSR is for the first time offering one of its shows in MP3 format as well and in a higher-quality 64kbps stream. For best results, ACS recommends the WinAmp application for listening to the MP3 version. For the RM version, both the free RealPlayer and alternatively the free Real Alternative programs are available for download.

GAMING C.E.O. CITED FOR `SCREWING UP`
(13 September 2005, 22:23 | Misc) In the "100 People Who Are Screwing Up America" book that is fast becoming a best-seller in the United States, former CBS correspondent and eight-time Emmy award-winner author Bernard Goldberg names amongst others including documentary filmmaker Michael Moore, shockjock radio talk show host Howard Stern and civil rights activist Jesse Jackson the Chief Executive Officer of Take-Two Interactive (TTI). The head of this game developer and publisher, Paul Eibeler, comes in at #43 as a result of their developing and marketing the Grand Theft Auto series under their subsidiary label Rockstar Games. He is the only individual in the electronic video gaming industry to be named in this publication.
TTI, which bought the rights to the Civilization franchise of computer games from fellow game publisher Atari late last year, is set to release CivIV from developer Firaxis Games next month under another subsidiary label 2K Games. - DanQ

`TTI` LOOSES MILLIONS IN 3RD QUARTER
(7 September 2005, 22:19 | Misc) Take-Two Interactive (TTI) is what GameSpot`s Tor Thorsen and Curt Feldman are referring to as the beleagued parent of game developer Rockstar Games of Grand Theft Auto fame or infamy, depending upon who you talk to. For the quarter ending July 31st of this year, TTI lost $28.8US million which is nearly three-quarters of many analysts` speculation of $40US million.
In addition to Rockstar, TTI wholly owns subsidiary publishing label 2K Games. In the same announcement of their just past quarter`s financials, they announced the company`s intent of moving Civilization IV`s release from November to sometime before the end of this October [see story]. - DanQ

`BOARDGAME` GETS REVISED RULES
(31 August 2005, 21:40 | Misc) The developer of Civilization: The Boardgame has announced the release of revised Advanced Fastplay rules. Glenn Drover, President of Eagle Games, made this revised offering known in the game`s official forum late last week. The shortlist of changes is described as affecting minor civilizations, Wonders of the World, plagues and Victory Points.
This update comes on the approaching eve of when C:TB was released nearly three years ago [see related story]. - DanQ
