MING: Faces of Apolyton #8, 26/Mar/2002 (Part II, Page 4)

PART I

Chris: Everyone loves this, so I'll ask again, was AH the fink, and was he given a lesser sentence for being a finger man?
Ming: When I posted in Area 25 for the first time, HA HA HA HA, same reaction.

FOR THE RECORD (and my story still hasn't changed, because it is true), I was doing my normal surfing of OTF threads looking for "trouble". AH had posted a link to area 25 in an obscure thread. Granted, he deleted it quickly... but I saw it. The rest is history. As far as his lesser sentence, if you looked through area 25, most of his posts were like "you guys are going to get in big trouble" and stuff like that, so he really didn't deserve much. But we figured, if we let him off the hook, his fellow posters would figure he ratted them out, and letting AH hang in the wind was far better than actually restricting him.

Chris: Yes, a Solomon like solution.
Ming: Solomon... NAHHH.... just pure fun;)

Chris: Tell us a bit about another bit of infamy, "Don't post here"
Ming: My biggest disaster as a mod.

I posted a single thread to tell people something (I don’t even remember the subject anymore).

I didn't want to lock it (no sticky threads back then) because I knew I would be bumping it, and it's such a pain to open and lock a thread. I really had no idea that it would be like drawing a line in the sand and daring somebody to cross it. At first, a few of the regular jokers posted, and I gave them the typical slap on the wrist one day restrictions. I then went into weekend mode, golf, drinking, and then, nap time. When I logged back in, I was blown away with what had happened. Since I wasn't around, MarkG stepped in. I guess I expected better from the posters, silly me.

Chris: And he banned a number of posters?
Ming: Yes, he made up the original list, and did the banning. We discussed it all later, and made some changes in length of restrictions (less time). God knows I've made many mistakes, and this was probably the worst of them. I just try to do the best I can;)

Chris: What would you say your biggest mistake as a mod was?
Ming: I just told you...

Chris: Ha ha
Ming: Next, was banning somebody for creating a DL. Unfortunately, it was ChrisWilkerson, and he wasn’t guilty! Well, we had an email match, and I was a little quick with the finger. And like usual, I did apologize later and we did catch 'my' mistake pretty quick.

Chris: I remember that, it was funny as hell! These things happen. I think I covered my whole list, so that should do it. ;)
