DATABASE GOES PUBLIC!
(Nov.8) Three months(and one day) ago, when we started Apolyton, we
promised a civ2 files database. Well, we're glad to announce that our
database goes public today! So, to start, we only have 51 already
posted maps and 10 new scenarios, but in the following weeks we plan on
including the entire Apolyton archive in the database. If you want to help
us in this process check out the Become a Helper page and contact us at
civ2@gamestats.com. We hope that you will find the database usefull. Feel
free to mail us for any comments/suggestions or problems.

CHRISTMAS OR NEVER?
(Nov.7) I got two mails from Joel Siragher and Tad Cleveland concerning
MGE. According to Joel, a Microprose employee told him this summer(which
means, not very recently), that MGE will be ready by Christmas. On the
other hand, Tad, a computer reseller, was told a few weeks by his sales
representative from Ingram Micro(computer distributor) that MGE has been
discontinued! With Microprose already pre-selling MGE, the listing in
various internet stores and the recent preview by Gamepen I find it a bit
hard to believe(not that I mean that Tad is lying of course). Stay tuned
for more about it...

TODAY'S MGE DATES
(Nov.5) News from three sources. Mediascape(a computer shop) shows MGE
coming at November 13th. Until now they listed it as "Ultimate Civ2" with
date "None"... The page was updated October 31th. Also, yesterday Thomas
Breivik(a.k.a. Coug) was told on his local EB store that they had just
received a fax saying December(no exact date). Finally, Gamespot's release
dates page was updated today, listing games that are going to be released
between November 6th and 13th. MGE is not in that list. Logical
conclusion? I don't have one...

NEW MGE DATE: NOV/24
(Nov.4) One more time, the EBWorld date for MGE was pushed back to
November 24th. The word "vaporware" comes to my mind... Oh, well this is
something usual for the computer game industry, but an official
announcement from Microprose wouldn't cost anything, would it? Our
thanks to George Rozes, Joel Siragher, Thomas Breivik and Jim Burck(do we
have some great visitors, or what? :)) for notifying us.

SAY IT AIN'T SO! (Nov. 8)
According to GameCenter, C:CTP is not anticipated for release until the
spring of '99! This may or may not be so and is currently up in the air.
If you have been following the action (or inaction as the case may be)
regarding Civ2: MGE's timelines a la MicroProse, we're certain that you're
feeling a little dejavu and wonder to what extent that sensation may come
to pass...
Note: Today(Nov.9), Lt John said again on our forums that the current
schedule is for pre-xmas...

AND THE WINNERS ARE... (Nov. 3)
William Porter, Isaac Sanderson, Matt Hawkins, David Lupi Sher, Paul
Davidson and William Fex are they winners of Activision's ctp contest. On
their ideas, the CTP team will implement the feature that will be in the
place of civ1's castle and civ2's throne room. "Your own Forbidden City"
as Activision call it(or "Your own Acropolis" as I would like it to be
named :)) will be an area of your capital which
the player will develop through the time. Read a more detailed description
of it, or check out the news story on Activision's site.

5.Nov New features info: Chat round-up.

4.Nov New features info: "Forbidden City".

ANCIENT PROPHECY NEWS
(4.Nov) First of all, the trascript of the AP chat is finally ready. Why
it took so long? It's nine pages long! :) Also, we have a new in-game
screenshot of the terrain and the units, as you can see. Finally,
Synesthetix has put up some designer notes, describing the Nobles and the
Workers, the Mayors of the player's cities, the commerce system and
more...

That was all for this week
Until next time...
