From: Apolyton Announcements (Apolyton Civilization Site)
Subject: Apolyton Weekly News 25/Oct/98 - Chat Today

Greetings everyone
This is the, a bit early this time, weekly round-up of what happened
in the civworld and on our site the last week(19-25.Oct).

But first, the reason we send this a couple of hours earlier: today on
1830 GMT(1130 EDT) we have an irc chat with the creators of Stellar
Civilizations, a quite interesting "civ in space" type of game. You can
find details on how to connect and reviews of the game on our Alternative
Civs section at http://civilization.gamestats.com/alt

Also, we would like to announce that our Civ2 Tournament Game will be
ending this week, so if you want to participate there are not mahy days
left. A new Tournament Game will start on November 1st.

Finally, from this week we have more than 500 subscribers on this list.
The number of subscribers is growing very fast(we are at about 530 now)
and we would like very much to thank you all for that. Please send any
suggestions or comments for this list at markg@gamestats.com

BACK TO 11TH!
(Oct.24) Ok, you can say that you're used to see the MGE date on EBWorld
moving forward, but how about backwards? EbWorld now shows November 11th
as the release date of Civ2: MGE! It seems to me that we'are getting
close... Our thanks to Mike for sending us a note.

GAMESPOT'S MGE DATE
(Oct.21) You're going to tell me it's not true, but I'm posting it.
Gamespot, on it's release dates page, shows that Civilization II -
Multiplayer Edition is going to be released on October 30. Yeah, in nine
days... The interesting part is that Gamespot only shows release dates for
games that are going to be released in the next 2-3 weeks. Also, the type
of MGE according to Gamespot is "online". Of course, Microprose's site has
no info about it... Should we believe it?

NEOCIV SITE
(Oct.21) The chat on Saturday went good and a team is starting to form.
Check out the NeoCiv site and join the discussion on the
Hacking/Programming forum.

E.T. PHONE HOME? (Oct. 24)
The PCGames Preview of C:CTP looks like most we have seen so far. However,
a careful look at its content reveals this eye-opening paragraph (quote):
"Call to Power will encourage peaceful, utopian players as well as
militaristic ones by including an alternate 'peaceful victory condition.'
If you can develop the scientific chops, it's possible to establish a base
in outer space and find a wormhole.. ." And there's more to it! Check it
out!

THE VOTING ENDS (Oct. 23)
(Oct.23) The voting ended! 185 votes in total. Of that, 67% believe that
CTP will be better than CivII and CivI; 21% say it will be different, 3%
say it will be equal to previous releases and 7% say it will be worse.
(Oct.10) Chanodin.NET is currently conducting the following survey: "How
do you believe C:CTP will stand up to Civ 1 and 2?" Enter the voting booth
and cast your ballot! http://civilization.gamestats.com/alt

SC 2ND REVIEW
(21.Oct) Markos got jealous and wrote an additional review for Stellar
Civilizations.

SC REVIEW AND CHAT
(20.Oct) Jaspers did it again, and we have a review of a very interesting
game, Stellar Civilizations. Check it out and leave your comments. Further
more, as we announced, we are having a chat about Stellar Civilizations
with the main creator of the game, Jason Kozak, this Sunday, 18:30 GMT. Be
there!

That was all for this week
Until next time...
