Greetings to everyone! Last week was exams week, which meant low number of
updates. We did have though the move of Allard & Andrew's Site on our
server, the opening of our civ2 for mac section and the testing of a new
set of forums. The big news of the week was of course the announcement of
the port of C:CTP to Linux. In details, here is was happened on our site
last week(25-31/Jan).

**Civilization: Call to Power Section

C:CTP FOR LINUX!! (Jan. 27)
It is true! Loki Entertainment Software announced yesterday that it will
create a Linux version of C:CTP(our thanks to Rick Alther and Patrice
LaFlamme for notifying us). The linux version will have the same source
code, graphics and interface with the pc version, and it is planned to be
released in spring, a little bit after the pc version. See also an
interview of the people behind Loki, on linuxpower.org.

**Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri Section

PBEM/Hotseat for SMAC -27 January 1999
--The first free enhancement Firaxis will do for SMAC will be the addition
of PBEM(Play By E-Mail) and Hotseat. It's something lots of you had asked
for, and it turned out to be easy to implement! It will probably be
available by the time that SMAC will be in stores. Check out the details
on Brian Reynolds' usenet post.

Gold(again?), Feb 3rd? -26 January 1999
--According to Adenaline Vault SMAC has gone Gold again and the ship date
is February 3rd(that's like next week!). On the other hand the official
site still says "arriving in week of Feb 16th"... Our thanks to Andrew
Solovay, the first man who used the Submit News Item form below... :)

SM Interview/Demo Review -26 January 1999
--One day you have no time to search for news, and the next everybody
sents you :) IGN has a nice interview of Sid Meier. In one of his answers,
Sid said he likes Starcraft, something which really dissapointed me.. :)
Anyway, 3DGN has a demo review. Notice, it's a review of the demo, not the
final game. Considering that, the cons they found are interesting:
"Confusing interface, no multiplayer, weak game tutorial, classes are
difficult to understand, the same music plays repeatedly." No comments...

**Civ2 for Mac Section /mac
Maintained by Romulo Romero

1/28/99. Mostly a housekeeing update. I added the new banners to all the
pages and fixed a few minor errors. All links should work now. Removed the
counter for now since it was causing the load times to slow down.

Tournament : Confirmation and Replacements
Sunday, January 31
We have taken down the bracket to the WWII tournament. Since this is a
team game we need each and every player who signed up to actually play. We
would like everyone who signed up to log on and confirm their place in the
tournament. We will also be taking replacement players for people who drop
out. More info is available on the tournament page.

Game Disputes

We are currently hard at work finishing the dispute win function. If you
have a problem with another member, please wait a few days while we get
dispute win completed. Thanks for your patience.

WWII Tournament
Saturday, January 30
I've finished the very long task of placing the names next to the
numbers on the tournament bracket. Please check to see if your bracket has
changed at all and have fun playing my scenario!

The bracket is up!!! (click "tournament" under the rankings section in
the navigation bar above). User names will be added to it soon, right now
it just list numbers. Please note there is a change in the rules: games
must be reported by Thursday at 3:00 pm (cst) instead of Friday at 3:00 pm.

Handbook and Tourney Rules
Wednesday, January 27
Part of the handbook is up. This is really a pre-release version but
their have been a lot of questions so just take the grammar errors in
stride. The tournament rules and links to download the scenario are in the
handbook. Just follow the link in the navigation bar above

27/1/99: WE HAVE MOVED TO APOLYTON !!!
We have a new address, so please update your bookmarks and links. In the
case of any problems(mistakes, etc. from the moving), please email Allard
or Andrew. We are very happy with this move and will continue to update
and improve our site continuously. Also, I, Allard, have improved the
frames effectiveness to allow easyer navigation. OUR NEW
