Hi folks! DanQ here, filling in for Markos who is away this weekend.

Before I get to _the_ main point of this mail, let me apologize for the
delayed issuing of this week's newsletter. It's Thanksgivving weekend here
in Canada eh, so a lot of family related things are going on. Rest assured
that it will get to you by or before Monday, October 11. The mailings will
resume on their regular schedule next week -- well, that's the plan
anyway. :)

So while I take the extra time to gather the past 7 days' news, here's
something to tide you over: the SMAC-X demo is now available! Released
just yesterday, the 24MB demo let's you play 100-turns of "Sid Meier's
Alien Crossfire", the highly anticipated follow-up
to "Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri".

You can download the demo directly from Apolyton, one of if not the first
Civilization-oriented fan site to offer the luxury.

SMAC-X will be commercially released on October 22nd.
