MoW: Proposed attack plans 1834 Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Most things have allready been discussed here, the people voted overwhelmingly to brinbe Hannover and externimate the Russians

A slight majority was in favour of making peace with Americans after taking Bombay and Los Angeles but I would like to repoll on this on the following plan:

Phase 1:

Finish the railroad up to a new fort on the mountain.
Finish the railroad north and build a city on the wine east of Denver.
Send units north of Denver towards the blue marked line, sweeping the area for any enemy dips.
Have cavalry and alpines sweep the area east of Rammstein.

During this phase use our attacking units to take Bombay and find Los Angeles.

Phase 2, the attack:

Build railroads up to Hannover, New Orleans and Denver.
Bribe Hannover, destroy the city walls in New Orleans and Denver and kill everyone who resists.
Move double stacked alpines up to the blue line.

Now by this time we should have found Los Angeles so why not take out an entire civ and meanwhile encircle the Germans?

We then take a couple of turns to scout the German Imperium while we focus our attacks on the Greek front taking out Mytilene and Issus. If the City Planner can provide enough engineers we can also do this simultaniously with the American/German operation.

Greek attack plan:

1, Build a railroad up to Mythilene, take down city walls and destroy its defenders.
2, Build the RR and forts as shown in orange and send alpines on the green lines to explore and defend.(Make sure they are double stacked so they dont get bribed)
3, Build the blue RR and take Issus, split the 4 alpines and move on the yellow lines. This should give us a good line of defence against the Greeks.

We send in a diplomat at the road NE of Genoa but as this is a suicide mission I'll leave this up to the presidents discretion.

http://apolyton.net/upload/files/atawa/1834Moskou.JPG
Russians:

It will take 4 turns to get the cannon and escort to the mountain, as we only have 1 vet and 2 normal cavalry and one normal cannon to attack with I would like to ask the City Planner to rush 2 cavalry in our southern city's.

Then its the usual sabotaging of the city walls and killing anyone foolish enough to oppose us

Units:

With cavalry and cannons combined we have 66 attacking units. With the use of railroads this should be enough to kill anything we want

The High Command would like to request about 30 alpine troops and the same number of dips to be build, most city's will have city walls by now and without taking them down our troops will suffer heavy casualties.

For the American/German attack we'll need about 45 engineers building roads and RR on the same turn.
Good thing the new CP saidhere he is planning on building more engineers

You will have about 46 hours for this poll.

I see our new SMC is starting of early
(about Americas though: the idea was to take their little city(the one we don't know yet) get peace, make them sneak us so they fall into anarchy and then just buy their infrastructure...never think I would be that benevolent to let even one of their cities free )

Are they on the mountain with the engineer?
If so why not build on the grassland nearby for the extra growth potential. We are in a celebrateing fundy Gov now and that position will not be close enough to the front lines to be in much danger.

Leave the poor Americans be! We can take with cunning what our SMC would take by force.

Also, if we must, let's take Greek cities, but only after we take Bombay and join our forces against Greece.

To support SMC's plans of sabotage, I shall provide diplomats in great numbers.

LEAVE THE POOR RUSSIANS ALONE!!!

We don't need to take Moskva, cause Russians are peaceful and can't threaten us. There are other, far more interesting targets than Moskva which is on a river with a wall!!!
Let's bribe Leningrad and focus our attention toward Artemisium.

I would also like to ask our newly elected SMC to repoll cavalry or canon as soon as possible.

We should build more alpines, but not as many as our SMC suggests. I would settle with 5-6 more, but we need much more diplomats.
Please research espionage!

Tired of ads?

It is important to start eliminating entire civs. One remaining city can spawn additional new ones. Even a seemingly peaceful civ will become aggressive. We can't leave other civ cities behind us as we sweep across the world; they will just make more cities or bribe/attack ours. We don't want to have to garrison many cities with important units to defend against surprise attack.

We have the Americans down to a few cities, we should focus on eliminating them. The Russians should be eliminated before they grow more cities that will just have to be destroyed later.

The fewer the civs, the less they can build/advance from each others' tech discoveries.

NO NO NO!

Leave Moskva alone. The enterprise is too expensive. The Russians are not democracy, so they don't bother us.
We can always bribe their other cities.

Let's lure the Americans out of their democracy. If we don't pull that thing off, we are simply going to kill them by brute force!

But we have to incorporate them into the Imperium one day, and soon too. It may as well be when the SMC jusges we are ready to do so.

And will plans change now that (reportedly) Hannover will cost 9000+ gold to bribe?

Just before I sent my report to our President, I calculated the cost of Hannover. I was shocked!!!

Either we bribe it regardless, in which case it can only be justified if we switch to communism using the newly acquired statue of liberty, or we don't bribe it at all and stay in fundamentalism forever.

Either way, the Russians are not a threat. We must focus on our true enemies.

See my comments re: Hannover in the science thread. If we really want to bribe it, we should make it as cheap as possible (by destroying happiness improvements and/or courthouse).

Given that we are only a couple of techs away from Communism, I don't see why we should spend that much for the Statue. It'd be different if this opportunity had come up, earlier in the game.

Conquest of Hannover looks very appealing. They would either become a pansy democracy and suffer crippling support payments, or a Monarchy, and thus suffer massive bribery.

Either way, since they just lost Mike's Chapel, their cities would lack some happy improvements.

There are numerous ways to reduce the cost of bribery for Hannover, all of which I have tried since I am currently playing a massive scenario called underdark. I lack the volume of units to conquer my enemies, all boasting huge territories and large treasuries.

What we can do is to knock out all the city improvements in Hannover, including a courthouse. Then we can knock down the citywalls. Then we can either wait a turn for the city to go into disorder as our troops occupy all the squares with trade resources, or we can pummel the city garrison to shrink the size of the city so that we can afford the bribe.

Either way, we ought to be able to get Hannover and the Statue of Liberty forcing the Germans to drop into either Democracy or Monarchy.

Yes, your plan would work in all circumstances, but here we have an alternative plan - bribing Hannover outright.

Germans are fundamentalists, so we won't be able to push them in disorder destroying city improvements. We would lose many buildings and diplomats to reduce the price of Hannover, even though we don't know weather they have a courthouse in or not (it is unusual for a fundi civ to build a single courthouse).

I suggest that we follow the plan I laid out in my report. We rush an alpine in Mpondo to accompany our diplomat there. They perform a scouting mission and the diplomat attempts the bribery of Hannover from the square 38, 72. If there is a courthouse there, Hannover will cost over 14000, so bribe proof. If the courthouse is not there we bribe Hannover for less than 9000.

That's my plan.

At long last the City Planner report has been sent to the President.

I apologize to all for the delay, and will explain (make excuses ) the two causes:
1) This job is much bigger then I thought, I spent several hours over the last three nights (and lunchhours compiling the report, and perhaps put too much into it, but I am happy with what I am sending).
2) I misread Ben Kenobi's earlier post, adn thought I had until late Thursday (tonight) to send it in. It wasn't until this morning that I found out that I was late already, and holding up the game.

If you require my resignation, I will do so (partially cause Ljvetko thinks this is the cushy job, and I thought foreign was and partially because I am usually the impatient one, not wanting to wait on reports, or slow ministers).

When I played at CFC, it became really obvious that in the later stages of the game, when the empire had loads of cities, that the City Planner job was just too difficult and time consuming. In order to make it easier, the empire was split up into provinces and each had a separate planner, all of whom would report to the Interior Minister, who drew up the plan from their information. This saved a lot of time and effort when there were lots of cities and I'd like to propose the Apolyton empire uses this system in future. Depending upon the way the provinces are designated, then it is possible for someone to hold a major cabinet position and take responsibility for up to twenty cities' defenses and build orders. This will mean that there is overlap, espcially with the Ministry of War (er, Defence), but these things can sort themselves out by PM.

I would suggest a different division.

First we could have a 'planner' someone who constructs the build queues.

Then we could have a 'maximiser' who ensures cities are operating at maximum efficiency.

The Civ 2 Red Front DG uses this system, with a cityplanner and a NKVD man to watch for each city, as well as for idle engineers.
