PROJECT-> CVS: Which one? Enter the AD-FREE zone

Suggest a Concurrent Versions System that you think it would be suitable to be adopted for our project.

Please, post only if you have used a CVS before, preferably a freeware software or service unless of cource you own a commercial one and are willing to host it.

Note if its terms of use are in contradiction with the terms of use specified in the EULA that comes with the CTP2 source code which is the case with SourceForge.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I *think* there's really only 1 version of CVS, though there are different servers. Sourceforge being one option, Apolyton another (if Markos and Dan will allow it and we can get it working), and a third option would be setting up our own version on some other website that supports it (a site like AngelFire maybe?). The best alternative to SourceForge and Apolyton would be some site similar to SourceForge, but I'm not sure if such sites exist.

Yea.. There is only one version of CVS. (www.cvshome.org). There is an excellent cvs book online at

http://cvsbook.red-bean.com/cvsbook.html

As far as remotely accessing cvs goes, the common way is to use a pserver

http://cvsbook.red-bean.com/cvsbook...ticating_Server

With a pserver the admin can grant either read-only access to people who have agreed to the EULA and commit (read-write) access to thoes who have have shown themselves to be good coders.

Although you can use rsh and ssh as well.

I've only ever used linux, so I'm not sure what can be done under windows. Although apolython is a linux machine right? (http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph/?host=apolyton.net)
