Virgin and HMV stores in central London, and the Virgin website all have the UK release as 21 November, as of today.
Does anyone know if the release has been put back?
If not, has anyone seen a copy in London?

So it looks like they can rush through the US pressings and distribution, but not manage to hit the later UK date - or bother to tell anyone about it. Hurrah.......
any official reasons (apologies?) lurking around out there?

I phoned the Manchester branch of Game on thursday afternoon to confirm they were getting it in on the 14th... and yes, they confirmed it would be on the selves. In fact, I was told it was already there and they promised to put aside a copy for me.
So I left work early on the Friday, added a few miles onto my trip to get to the store and lo and behold, was told no, actually they didn't have it and sorry for any trouble. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.......
As it happens, I'd persuaded my g/f to go to London this weekend for a party and was looking forward to marathon Civ session on my last free weekend for a month.

I went into Game on Oxford Street yesterday and saw a rack of Conquests boxes with stickers on saying something like "Out on Friday, pre-order now!" Naturally, this being Saturday, I assumed it meant the previous day, since I was under the impression that it had shipped on Thursday 14th. Imagine my annoyance when I tried to buy the thing and was told that it was indeed NEXT Friday, and for now they had only the boxes but nothing to go inside...

To be fair, that was a guesstimate on her part,
judging from when most game titles come
in after their release date. (Her computer
showed a release of mid-november).
That's not gonna stop me from going down there
twice a week (and other shops) to see if
it's there yet.
In fact, I'm going in about an hour.

And I just went hunting for Conquests again,
but alas, still no sign of it.

I have checked my Amazon.co.uk account, and they are still saying that the game will be despatched TODAY!! 18/11, but at the same time it clearly says that it has not been despatched.
The worst thing is that the UK web for Civ3 does not mention Conquests at all...
Sad, very sad.

Well, the continued delay clearly fits the 'history as cockup' model. But with time to fill, I thought I might as well start a 'history as conspiracy' theory.
The CIA are making us wait for Conquests in the UK. While Dubya is over here, it is far too inflammatory and subversive to give us access to a programme which shows how non-Democratic governments can prosper, and in which wars are openly fought for nothing more noble than securing oil resources.
So we'll have to wait until he's back in the plane before we can get our hands on it.
How about a mod to the diplomatic options, in which you can improve your standing with another civ by inviting them to your capital on a state visit.....but there's a chance your people will react to the guest by putting your capital into civil disorder, disrupting production, and vandalising your palace (which remains in that state on the Palace View screen until their next offer to improve it)?
More timefilling. Dubya and the Queen are getting on well because they've discovered how much they have in common; neither was elected to office, and they're each only there because of who thier father was.
