Where do you live? Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Just curious on how large the city you're living in is... is it large, or just a small town? And do you like it? And what size of city would you prefer to live in?

I live in Sønderborg... a small city with about 20,000 inhabitants I believe... Personally I don't like it... it's way too small to have some real variety (Basicly this city only got a few shops, none who knows much about computers, and tons of bars, etc... and I don't like partying, so it's not my thing), but it's still too big to have some "peace" (Where you can do whatever you want to do, without neighbors complaining... )

If I were to chose the city I'd like to live in, it would be one of these:

1) A small town (approx 200-300 inhabitants), which gives enough room for me to "breathe"

2) A large city (Size ala L.A.) where there's more possibilities

Put an end to popups!

I believe there are 1.5 million people living in the Las Vegas valley.

It actualy consists of 3 cities (Henderson, Las Vegas, N. Las Vegas), and unincorporated county suburbs (like paridise, spring valley, summerlin, anthem). It is pretty much wall to wall city with no breaks now. This is good in way as we don't have the suburban sprawl that cities like Atlanta has. But we still have very bad smog because we are in a valley.

It is a city that consists of a downtown district full of casinos and a light show that shows graphics outside in the street. And a "strip" of sorts with long lines of casinos and mega-resorts. There are smaller local casinos scattered about town. Many on Boulder Highway (the old way of leaving town towards Arizona) and a few on Rancho (the old way of leaving town towards Reno)

We have at least 1 bar on every corner. And we also have 1 smoke shop on every corner where you can buy drug paraphanalia. You will also find a gas station/convenience store on every corner.

We have strip malls galore, and shopping centers galore. We have massive amounts of money in this city, and people who are willing to part with it.

Smoking and drinking are very popular where I live. And drunk drivers are common (I see one every day). Cigarrette smoke is everywhere.

As for the size of the city I like to live in. Well I like living in Las Vegas. But las Vegas circa 1982. The city is very large, and very Californian now (things like oxygen bars and other yuppie establishments). I like a town around a few hundred thousand people at most. Big enough for things to do, but no so big you can't easily escape the city.

I live in Aarhus, which is Denmark's second largest city. A staggering 288,837 people.

I live in a quiet suburban area called Egaa, and I currently plan to live here for the rest of my life

I live where the river wey joins the thames. Close enough to London (30 mins by train), but far enough out that the surrey countryside is short bicycle ride away. The river wey was cut into a canal in the 15-16th century. The towpath serves as a perfect cyclists highway, unbroken to guildford (2 hours by bicycle). The ride runs through the countryside with plenty of oppourtunitys to explore. I can dissappear into the surrey hills, or down the basingstoke or arun canal.

The Thames has had heavy investment in its towpaths, and run for 180 miles. I can cycle into London past Hampton court palace, or upstream past Windsor and Oxford (should I ever make it that far!)

Theres enough bar nightlife here to keep me enterained, but any big night just has to be in London, its so close.

I live in Graz, Austria which is about 25000 inhabitants in summer, during the university year ~300000. Well, that's the town itself, with suburbs it's larger. I live right next to the University and within footwalk-reach of downtown.
I like the size of Graz, maybe it could be slightly bigger. Lower crime rate than real cities and one still knows how a cow looks like. One can still get most stuff and the cultural life is at not confined to the yearly firemen-party in a huge tent like in small towns and your neighbours don't keep track if you attend the church every Sunday and when you go to bed. funny thing. My mom and Dad had seperated when I was in fourth grade (nothing in my life is relative to my age, its all relative to my grade) and my mom came up here and left us kids with our dad in Anchorage. She lived up here for about 4 months before we visited her for the first time. While we were up here she was dating a Pharmacist we shall call Jim, I call him "Jim" because it was his name. Anywho, we were up here for about a month and Jim said he knew of a game I might be intrested in, and he said it goes by the name "Civilization".
Then about two or three years after all of this and after much crap in life we moved to California, the game that got me addicted to computer gaming was named "Caesar II" and it sent me to the computer store in the mall in search of bigger and better things. I saw the holy grail and how did it shine! I had found this "Civilization" of which Jim spoke, only it was Multiplayer and "Gold edition" so surely it must be better, I guilted my mom into buying it for me. I spent many countless hours conquering the world and when we got the "internet" I stumbled upon much porn, and Apolyton

so in fact Barrow is what brought me to Civ, and Apolyton.

Currently in Nottingham.

Great lifestyle here (most vibrant city centre in the UK apparently), although surprisingly it's the 4th most dangerous city in the UK

Non-term time I live in a town with about 4000 people...a lot lot quieter and nicer, although there's nowt to do. It's a case of swings and roundabouts, I suppose.

Some aerial shots...

The Castle (well, where the castle was...now it's a palace):

The Portland Building at my Uni:

The Trent Building at Uni:

The famous Queen's Medical Centre, with some of the Uni at the back:

I live right near these ugly buggers:

And the lovely new tram system, which is both massivly overbudget and late:

I grew up hunting, and my dad was very strict about being responsible about gun safety. I knew guns weren't toys and that I shouldn't mess with them when my dad was gone. unless there someone broke in, then it was okay to give in a 30-30 shell to the body . An image just came to my mind of Space and his dad getting ready to go hunting.

*Dad...what are those mags in the bottom of your hunting locker*

*Oh...they're nothing son. You don't wanna look at those. In fact..don't ever, ever look at any of those mags*

*Uh....OK, dad*

And dad was actually sure that Space would never look at the mags. Little did he know

he never opened the bottom part of his gun cabinet when we were getting ready to go out hunting. When I got older though he said he knew I used to go look at them, he even offered to give some to me. I always thought moms were the only people with that power, knowing that a kid is doing something they shouldn't that is.

Northampton, one of Europes largest towns (non city) with 300'000 or so people.

Shared with Drogue and Verres, this town ain't big enough for the three of us. Its barely big enough for me! . Its pretty much smack bang in the middle of England, about 60 miles north of London, 50 miles east of Birmingrad and on the main M1 motorway, fairly close (30 miles or so) to the M6, and thus the rest of the Midlands and the North.

Pretty easy to get everywhere, except college . Damned buses.
