I've tended to notice it is the opposite. Asian women, at least in the US, tend to shun Asian men and seek out white men. The As-Am Gender Relations class I took in college even went into this issue to some detail. Asian women have an EXTEMELY high marry out rate while Asian men have a slightly lower marry out rate (but still the highest of all ethnic groups) and both groups almost always choice white mates when they marry out.

Blame it on societal stereo types but integration is a fact of life.

How does this statistically work out?

Do Asian men have a lower marriage rate as a whole? Are there fewer of them?

Or, do Asian women have a higher rate of divorce and remarriage?

This isn't anything new; white guys have been marrying Asian women for decades. It probably happens a bit less often now than it did back when American GIs were meeting their wives in Korea and Vietnam.

These marriages often produce really great-looking kids. I used to live down the street from a mixed couple; white husband, Japanese wife. To call her "plain" would be flattering, and the most favorable description of his looks would be something like "craggy". But their two kids had movie-star good looks. The daughter was every bit as pretty as Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang on the TV series "Smallville", who is herself Eurasian).

Yup.
And a much bigger reason for this (at least in asia) is gender-selective abortions than inter-racial marriage, but I believe that in 80% of interacial marriages in Korea the male is white.
But the Russians "dancers" here are doing their best to even things out...

zero has a point there. though, i tend to like americanized/westernized asians just as much as asian-asians. i tend to try and avoid fobs, though. ^^;

still, if there's a high rate of asian males dating outside of the race and going with white women, i've yet to see more than one other couple outside of mine. invariably, mixed couples i see are asian female-white male.

of course, you hear about the asian male-white female ones now and then, like in the case of dean cain. but those relationships are like bigfoot--unless you're in one, you're never going to see one in the wild.

In Chinese there's a phrase "hui tou lu" which means "head turning ratio". This describes a Chinese man who's seen in public dating a western female. The reason why is that you so rarely see a Chinese guy date a westerner that peoples' heads always turn.

Strange how the Chinese mindset doesn't find western women all that attractive, but the western mindset likes Asian women. As a woman who's half white, half Chinese, I get real problems!

i'm with drake here. although i'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt, it's happened far too many times in the media and everywhere else that asian women have been stereotyped.

the only two asian female actresses i can think of in america who don't have the stereotypical roles are ming na in er and linda park in enterprise.

well i dunno about the US, but over here we're still about 90% white, that'll go down over time but there will always be people who won't marry outisde their race.

It's not just that Asian women are stereotyped in the Western media, which is certainly the case. Western men are also portrayed in a biased way in the Asian media, which leads to the bizarre belief that white men are simply better than Asian men amongst many of the women here. Many Asian women think that Western men don't have any of the negative qualities they associate with their native men, which is bullshit, but it exists anyway.

And let's not even get into the way in which being with a foreign man is seen as a status symbol here. It's all working in my favor, but I can't condone it in any way...

What's lu? hui is "turn" or "look back" and tou is head.
